MATCH PROGRAM
LOCATION:
CMP Marksmanship Center
(North) - a new facility in Camp Perry, OH
There will be 80
electronic target firing points. Visitors and spectators are welcome.
ELIGIBILITY:
All participants should
qualify as outlined in the state guide to participate at the national
level.
RULES:
The current Progressive
Position Air Pistol Rules will govern. A copy can be downloaded from
the USA Shooting web site
www.usashooting.org under the “Youth
Programs”
link.
QUALIFYING:
Individual:
All shooters should fire in a
state qualifying competition. Individuals may not participate at the
national level in both the “A” and “B”
Divisions. A
parent, guardian or coach must accompany individuals under age 18. CMP, NRA
or USA Shooting will not accept responsibility for minors traveling alone!
Team:
Each state may send several
three-person teams for “Mixed-Position” and for “Unsupported-Position”.
Teams that lose a member for some reason may replace that person with
another member of the same club or school. Teams may use mixed A and B type
pistols for competition.
The NRA state (“all-star”) teams
will comprise a separate awards category. Athletes may represent
their state team in this category and also be part of a (different) club
team in the club team match category.
COACH/TEAM LEADER:
Each team must have a
designated coach to be responsible for their teams. This person will be
responsible for arranging travel for the teams and for team conduct
while at the championship. Assistant coaches may attend at their own
expense.
COURSE OF FIRE:
Competitors will shoot two
match courses of 40 shots.
One course will be fired
each day. Olympic
style finals for the top 8 open and top 8 female individuals based on
two day aggregate scores in the standing One-Handed category (regardless
of Division A or B equipment) will be held shortly after the
second course of fire. The final for females is considered a
demonstration event in 2009 and winners will be awarded medals. A
female finishing in the open top 8 will also qualify to compete in the
open final and may fire both.
Team totals will be based on the total
of two-day match scores, not including finals. The individual National
Junior Championships will be based on the total of the two 40 shot
scores plus the 10 shot final and athletes must shoot from the Standing
One Handed Position.
COACHING:
Coaching is allowed in all
of the Supported Positions. However coaches may not assist in shooting
the shot.
Coaching assistance in the
Unsupported-Positions on the firing line will cease when the preparation
period begins.
SQUADDING:
If possible, all team
members will be squadded on the same relay (except where team members
share equipment). This will allow teams to plan other activities before
or after shooting.

REGISTRATION AND LIABILITY
FORMS:
All coaches/instructors and chaperones must
complete a CMP Liability Release Form. This form is included with

All
participating competitors must submit or bring a signed
Parental
Permission Form at the time of check-in. A copy of this form is also
included with this form.
AWARDS:
Individual:
Competitors
in both “A” and “B” Divisions will be
awarded special Gold, Silver and Bronze championship medals and
certificates. The next five places will be awarded certificates.
To be named Individual National Champion
for this event a competitor must participate in the One-Handed
category.
Note: The reason for this special
parameter is to urge competitors into the traditional shooting
position so they can easily graduate into Junior Olympic or NRA
programs. Category winners will be Champions in their designated
category.
Teams:
The top three
club teams in the
Mixed-Position and Unsupported-Position will receive special
championship medals and certificates. 4th and 5th
place teams in each category will receive certificates.
The National Rifle Association will provide
awards for the top teams in the NRA State Team category.
This is a
new event, so anyone wanting to donate special trophies for the
