CMP Eastern Games a Success in North Carolina - Over 170 competitors from 22 states traveled to North Carolina for the Inaugural Eastern CMP Games. The Eastern CMP Games, held in conjunction with the Eastern Creedmoor Cup Matches, took place 5-8 May at Camp Butner, a National Guard Base located in Butner, North Carolina. The North State Shooting Club and the North Carolina Army National Guard hosted the events.

NEWS FROM THE CMP

This new CMP program trains instructors how to organize and teach rifle clinics in their home clubs and provides instructional slides and student texts for certified Master Instructors to use in conducting CMP-sanctioned military rifle clinics and matches. The CMP has now trained 149 new GSM Master Instructors since this program was launched in April 2007. The next GSM Master Instructor courses will take place at Anniston, Alabama on 15-16 September and Camp Pendleton, California on 12-13 October. USAMU Smallbore/Air Rifle Summer Camp.  The United States Army Marksmanship Unit will once again host a Junior Rifle Camp this summer.  The dates are 13-17 August 2007 at Fort Benning, GA.  This junior shooting camp is open at shooters ages 12-20 with a cost of $35 per shooter.  For further information and registration packet, please contact 2LT Lucas Leinberger at lucas.leinberger@usaac.army.mil or by telephone 706-545-2343.

2007 Eastern Creedmoor Cup Matches - The Inaugural Eastern Creedmoor Cup Matches was held on 9-13 May at Camp Butner, a North Carolina Army National Guard Base, in conjunction with the Eastern CMP Games, which were held earlier in the week. The North State Shooting Club along with the North Carolina Army National Guard hosted the events.

2007 Reading Rifle Junior Highpower Clinic - After having 24 hours to defrost and dry out, I am filling out the last of the paperwork to close our second annual junior highpower clinic. The clinic was held at the Reading Rifle and Revolver Club in Reading, Massachusetts. We had a total of 27 juniors both male and female ranging in age from 14 to 19 on the firing line.

The Alliance Rifle Club welcoming New Members - The Alliance Rifle Club is located in Malvern, Ohio approximately 15 miles south of Canton, Ohio. ARC is affiliated with the CMP and all match results are sent to the NRA for classification purposes.

CMP Carbine Sales.  The CMP North and South Stores are completely sold out of carbines and will not be restocked for a few months due to the overwhelming number of Carbine mail orders.  Mail orders will be accepted through 18 May 2007.  Thanks for your overwhelming support!!!!

Another GSM Master Instructor Class Completed. 20 new Garand-Springfield-Military Rifle Master Instructors were trained and certified in the most recent CMP Master Instructor Course that was conducted at Camp Perry on 21-22 April.

Juniors will fire a Bushmaster Trophy Match (800 Agg. Across-the-Course Match), the Billy Atkins Team Match (Whistler Boy format, 500 Agg. Two-person team match with coaching), a 50-shot EIC Match and an Infantry Team Match during the five days of clinics and competition. 2007 CMP National Trophy Rifle and Pistol Matches and CMP Games Events.  2007 is an important year in the history of the National Matches. That makes it an important year for shooters to be at Camp Perry. 2007 is significant, first of all, because it marks the 100th anniversary of the National Matches at Camp Perry.  Make your plans now and register to shoot in the CMP National Trophy Rifle and Pistol Matches.  Almost 1,600 competitors have already signed up to shoot this summer at Camp Perry in the CMP Events.  Visit the CMP web site at http://www.odcmp.com/NationalMatches.htm to view all of the National Match programs and on-line registration information.

CMP Stores Closed Saturday 26 May 2007. Both CMP stores will be closed on 26 May and will re-open for business on 31 May 2007.  The CMP South Store will be closed 22 July thru 8 August and will reopen for normal business on 9 August 2007. CMP South personnel will be performing inventory, doing general housekeeping, working in the CMP North Store and providing other support for the National Matches.

The Eastern U.S. Junior Highpower Clinic and Championship will be held again this year at Camp Butner, North Carolina, 24-30 June.  The camp offers a full week of clinics, coaching and competition for junior service rifle competitors. Instruction and coaching will be provided by the USMC Rifle Team and the All-Guard Rifle Team.
