Davis Wins Marine Corps JROTC Precision Air Rifle Title and Wheeless Captures Sporter Crown - ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – Connor Davis, 17, of Shelby County High School in Shelbyville, Kentucky, won the 2011 U.S. Marine Corps Junior ROTC Service Championship in the precision air rifle division. Thomas Wheeless, 18, of Phoebus High School in Hampton, Virginia, also picked up a gold medal and will move on to defend his national sporter championship crown at the National JROTC Championships in Anniston, Alabama in late March.

Maya Arredondo and Mikaelah Atchley Come from Behind to Win 2011 Army JROTC Air Rifle Service Championships - ANNISTON, ALABAMA & CAMP PERRY, OHIO – It was a tale of two come-from-behind victories for Maya Arredondo and Mikaelah Atchley who won the individual precision and sporter air rifle categories, respectively, at the 2011 Army JROTC Service Championships.

Air Rifle and Air Pistol Marksmanship Competitions - Camp Perry, Ohio and Anniston, Alabama. The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) invites you and your club rifle team to participate in the CMP’s Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on the above dates at the CMP’s Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20, 60 Shots Air Rifle Standing, 60 Shots Air Pistol, a 20 shot Novice Prone stage a National Match Air Rifle 20 Shot Standing, Garand Course and 3x20 events. 2011 CMP Eastern NMAR Competition, King George High School, Virginia, 30 April & 1 May, 2011. The CMP is contacting Adult and Junior Highpower shooters in Virginia and surrounding states, and all those interested in visiting Virginia, to introduce a new series of National Match Air Rifle matches that will take place at King George High School, on 30 April & 1 May, 2011. The program is designed for both experienced highpower rifle shooters and new and inexperienced shooters. We’re excited about introducing new shooters to this new fast-growing shooting sports discipline. Moyer is Tops in Navy JROTC Precision and Ibarra Takes Sporter Crown - ANNISTON, ALABAMA – Kirsten Moyer, 18, a senior at Manzano High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and member of the Navy JROTC rifle team, fought off the demons that prevented her from capturing an individual precision air rifle championship last year to win this year’s Navy JROTC Service Championship on 12 February.

2011 Camp Counselor Announcement. The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is seeking qualified individuals to fill counselor positions for its Three-Position Air Rifle Summer Camps. This premier program has a long established history of providing the highest quality air rifle instruction in the country for high school athletes. Camp Counselor positions are open to college students who have completed at least one year of college and are members of an NCAA or college club rifle team. Applicants must be available to work and travel from 24 May through 29 July 2011. These are highly competitive positions. Selection will be based on academic performance, shooting experience, coaching experience, youth leadership experience and references. Applications must be received by 18 March 2011. A CMP/NRA/USAS-sanctioned Air Rifle/Smallbore Rifle Level One Coach School will be held in Union, South Carolina, April 9-10. For more details contact Paul Davis at paulLdavis@charter.net.
2011 GSM Master Instructor Workshops Announced. Experienced rifle marksmanship instructors and shooters who would like to receive advanced training and be certified as “Master Instructors” to teach CMP-sanctioned Garand, Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle or Rimfire Sporter Clinics are invited to apply to attend a CMP Master Instructor Training Workshop. The GSM Master Instructor Workshops are:

Volunteers needed during the 2011 Eastern CMP Games & Creedmoor Cup Matches. The CMP and Creedmoor are looking for volunteers to help work the matches at Camp Butner, North Carolina. Without our volunteers we would not be able to conduct the matches. We will provide lunch on the day (s) that you volunteer. Volunteers are needed 7-15 May.
