Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the Colt Ace Conversion I purchased. It arrived today and I was pleased to find the condition much better than I could have hoped. Y'all take care and have a great New Year. Daryl T . Graham, Texas

Dear Sirs, I am a service member that is currently serving in the U.S. Army and have had the great chance to speak with W.W.2 veterans, that have owned and fought with the M-1 Garand rifle. They sadly for the biggest part are all declining in numbers, due to age and health related problems. My greatest moments growing up were spent going to the countryside and getting the chance to fire a original Winchester M-1 rifle that seen action in Germany. It is a breath of fresh air to know that there is a company that still takes the time and effort to educate the public and perhaps even go back in time , to where a single generation stood alone in the awesome undertaking of making the world safe for the next generation to come. I would like to say Thank You and keep up the great work. Sincerely, Sgt.
Donald D. Jr. US Army

Just a quick line to say thanks for the outstanding HRA receiver that was delivered 12/24. I couldn't believe my eyes, beautiful finish and the ser. # range I was looking for. I don't know how y'all do it but keep it up. Thanks again for your outstanding work ethic. Sincerely, Michael G. W.

I sit and wander why I'm having such a hard time writing all of you to express my feelings to the staff of the CMP this holiday season.

I finally figured it out!

Last year I wrote to you and expressed how the CMP had changed my life.
That was a year ago and not much has changed with me since then and that is a good thing.

You see, what the CMP has done for me over the last couple of years was to make me grow deeply into the shooting sports community, regularly meet new people and make true friends across the country with the same common interest, make me more appreciate the freedom I have as an American and more than ever, to wholeheartedly honor the men and woman who preserve that freedom for me.

These things are now a part of my regular daily life and when things are so good, sometimes it's difficult to realize just how good they are. I pray that I never take for granted what I have learned from my association with the CMP.

Having a good day every day and growing just a little bit every day is why I haven't recognized much change in my life. The big change had already happened.

Christmas is the time that we give gifts and are thankful for the gifts we that we receive. Thanks to you, the people of the CMP, you have given me the greatest gift as I awake every morning with bells on and upon the ending of my day, I have that feeling of completion. This is a feeling that I cherish deeply and can only thank the CMP for.

With this, I will close my letter of thanks with all of you in my prayers wishing all of you my best this holiday season.

Merry Christmas and God bless you all.

Craig A. W.

I just took delivery of my M-1 Garand and I couldn't be happier. The rifle looks to be in pristine condition. As a matter of fact when my wife looked at it she said that there is know way the rifle was 62 years old and suggested that I got ripped off with a new knock-off. Thanks Again, Peter M.B.

I visit your North store about once a week and often buy guns and ammo. I have met and talked with most of the CMP personnel working there. They are a great bunch of people, very helpful, attentive and knowledgeable. I believe the CMP is well represented by this staff. Thanks, Lee H .

12-18-04

Yes there is a Santa Claus and they are in Anniston, AL . I just wanted to thank you for the Greek rack grade I received this week and to wish all of the C.M.P staff a Merry Christmas and a great New Year. Thanks Again.

First trip to North Store. Possibly the most legal fun a guy could have...
Peewee, and the other folks were extremely helpful.. many thanks.. I was able to pick two HRA Greek rack M1''s.. one 1.5 ME, and 2.5 TE, the other not quite 2ME and 2.5 TE.. first one all HRA except bolt, reparked, USGI walnut stock with eagle, stars, arrows mark under elevation knob, the other stock rougher.. the other rifle has a slant cut WRA op rod.. (I never even noticed it till I got home). As I was leaving, Peewee was bringing out two more to replace these, and they looked real good.. I didn't dare look, Also a green parked like new Remington A3 was screaming my name, and it too, came home with me.. I don't think the bolt has ever been opened since rebuild...
I figure the trip was worth it,,, 4158 miles round trip from Wyoming.. only about $500 in diesel fuel....but being able to cherry pick at the North Store?? PRICELESS

I just wanted to send you a note to thank you and everyone else at the CMP for the fine M-1 rifle that you sent me. I received the rifle on Dec. 7, (I thought that date was very appropriate considering the history of the M-1 in general even though the rifle that I received had not been manufactured yet in Dec. 1941). The rifle that you sent me was exactly the rifle that I wanted, a shooter.
The best that I can tell from the information that I have been able to find, my rifle was probably manufactured in mid-1955. The stock has a few dings and dents, (character marks), which assures me that it was indeed handled and used, and is otherwise perfect. I don't have any of the gauges to measure TE or muzzle wear, but to my eye the barrel looks to be in fine condition. The rifling is clear and sharp and there is no pitting, the chamber is bright and shiny. Having given the rifle a good going over, it looks like it's nearly brand new.
I did accidentally break the OP rod spring on my initial cleaning of the rifle, but from what I can tell the spring was ready to break under the slightest pressure anyway and there was no way that anyone at the CMP could have known from a visual inspection. The way that I always clean any springs in my firearms is to take an oiled patch and gently twist it down the length of the spring to lubricate the spring and grab any dirt that has accumulated. I was in the process of doing this, and about 1 inch from the end of the spring it snapped like a twig. I have since replaced the spring and have had opportunity to fire 8 rounds from the rifle, and it shoots great!
I basically just stepped over the hill behind my house, found a good backstop and fired out a clip to make sure the rifle was going to cycle reliably. This weekend will be my first chance to put a few rounds downrange and I am looking forward to firing my rifle for accuracy.
Again, thank you for the fine rifle. It is exactly the one that I wanted and I am very happy with it. Keep up the good work and be proud of what you are doing to preserve the finest military rifle ever produced.
Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions, comments or advice.
Sincerely, R. L.

Hi. You guys do a great job. I previously bought an M-1, had a little trouble with it, and you took care of it pronto. I just ordered two 1903A3's. Will you be emailing me a tracking number when they ship? Thanx, Rich R.

12-16-04

Received my H&R M1 today, December 16, 2004. I could not believe the speed of processing the order. Thanks!!! Just what I needed under the Christmas Tree. The condition of the rack grade was great. Again, Thanks for all of your hard work and great service. Merry Christmas.. Bill V.

I attended the Harrisburg, PA gun show over the weekend. It was great to see the response to your setup at the show. There was a large crowd. Your employees were helpful and courteous. Thanks for bringing the CMP to our area. I live in Hagerstown, MD, about 2 hours away.

12-14-04

Wow! I ordered my 03A3 a couple of weeks ago, never ordered from the DCM previously. Got an email that it was sent in Alabama 12/13/04 early in the morning. I received my rifle before noon today 12/14/04. It is everything that I hoped for Will be a return buyer for sure. C. L. , Gustine, TX

12-14-04

Hello, I received my M1 yesterday. This was the first order I have placed with CMP so I was a little concerned. The rifle was a rack grade so I wasn't expecting much. However I am very pleased with the condition of the gun and really appreciate the help your customer service people gave walking me through this purchase. Thanks again, Jack N . Greeneville TN.

12-13-04

It's great to read about the fantastic service people have received but my story is a little bit different.

I sent my paperwork in to order an M1 Garand under the watchful eyes of my three sons. I received an e-mail saying the order had been received and was given a web site to check on the order. I checked the site on Friday, Dec 10th and to my horror the "ship to" address was incorrect. I live in an area that has three cities with the same zip code and deliveries do not occur based solely on zip code. Who ever placed the order in the computer evidently entered the zip code and didn't check the city, relying on the default. It did seem odd because my order address is with the same zip code but a different city but; it was entered correctly.

Lue: What a pleasure to finally meet, in person, you and some of the CMP staff/volunteers, at Sundays Harrisburg, PA show. I've only had email and USPS correspondence with you-all over the past several years. Finally putting a face with the names always makes the relationship better in my book.

I'm the guy that told you of my first Garand that cost $92 way back when and then cheered you on to put a cattle prod on the end of the cleaning rod while you were sitting in the directors chair and then again spoke to you while you were in line for a meeting with Gen. Tibet's of the Enola Gay fame. I also enjoyed trading stories about the various arsenals around Anniston, Alabama with I believe his name was Tom. Keep up the excellent work and the quality customer service.....and good luck with your other "Road Shows." Douglas S.

Just took the new M1 out to the range. Took about 2 weeks to receive it. About a 2 1/2 inch group at 100 yds with military ball ammo. Metal was very nice, barrel in great shape. Wood a bit dinged up but usable. I plan on putting a new Walnut stock on it. Very happy with the purchase. Thanks. Dan H.

Happy Holidays, I just wanted to let everyone at the North Store at Port Clinton how happy I was with the service I received when my grandson and myself came from our home in Byhalia, MS to buy a M-1 rifle.  I am deaf and sometimes I have to ask people to tell me several times before I can hear them.  We looked at rifles for hours I purchased a H&R rack grade that was in great shape except for the barrel, it is being replaced so I can shoot it in the J Garand match in the spring.  Thanks for helping me find what I wanted and taking so much time to help me. Arthur H . Byhalia, MS

I what to THANK all the people at CMP for the last M1's I have received over the year. They all are GREAT!!! Dennis G .

So, I dropped my completed order package with USPS Sunday, Oct 24th. Nov 2nd the 2 rifles were in my hands & the ammo arrived a couple days later.
Mighty efficient service, in my estimation. Additionally, the '03 Springfield was missing a small part from the rear sight. I e-mailed CMP the info & Randy Bradford promptly responded. The "drop-in" part was in my hands a few days later, no hassle - no problem. I rcvd a service grade M1 which, from the ser #, is 1943 Springfield production. I'm no expert, but it seems complete & functions well (unlike a similarly priced "parts gun" I purchased from Dunhams a few months ago). I also rcvd an '03 Springfield which North Cape Pubs. "Springfield Rifle and its variations" indicates was produced in 1928. This rifle also seems to be in good shape though the trigger pull is EXTREMELY LIGHT. The rest of my purchase was 1000rds of '06 ammo, steel cored (attracts a magnet) and all headstamped "LC74". Bottom Line, I'm a very satisfied first time customer. Service was very good & prices seem quite reasonable. Bob M. Eastman, WI

I sent my order in for a service grade Garand early last week--like Monday, 29 November using Priority "Snail" Mail. Today, 8 December 2004, I checked my e-mail around 9:00am. There was a message from CMP telling me my Garand had shipped (FED-EX Overnight Priority) the day before and they gave me a tracking number. I checked the tracking number and learned that the package was now on the truck (8:47am) in San Jose for delivery today. The driver drove up to my door around 10:00am. This is my Christmas present. I could not wait until then. I had to make sure that the Garand was ok. I opened the shipping carton and checked the rifle out carefully. A couple minor wood dings in the forearm but everything else was just great. I am a happy camper. Thanks again CMP for such a timely turnaround. My Christmas wish has been answered in full. Roger D.

I certainly applaud the CMP staff for sending packages to our folks in Iraq.  I just sent a goodies and pogy bait package to the 1st Bn 9th Infantry.  They are called  "The Manchus" since they served in China for many years between WWI and WWII.  They are normally based in Korea which means a one-year hardship tour.  Just as many of the guys were getting ready to go home for the holidays after this unaccompanied tour, the battalion was sent to Iraq for another year!  That is a long time away from home.  Their adjutant decided to send out an email asking that we keep the guys in mind and this old tread-head tried to help.

All of you are to be congratulated for your hard work, patriotism, and concern for our GIs.  Well done.  (Oh - and the M1903, MK I Springfield arrived only two weeks after I mailed in the order and it is a keeper!  Thanks for that too!)

Ladies & Gentlemen, I received my M1 Garand on November 11, 2004. Veteran's day, 2004. I did not expect to receive it 1 week after ordering. The rifle is in very nice condition. Some of my friends have seen it and are considering purchasing an M1 from the CMP. I may have found many more customers for you. I am proud to own a piece of history, and I will treat it with the respect that it deserves. I want to thank the Civilian marksmanship Program for patriotism and professional service. My sincere thank you to all that work for the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Merry Christmas! Philip M, K. Romulus, NY

I just wanted to say a quick thank you for the excellent service you have provided in the past. I have ordered 3 Greek Garands from you in the past and have been completely pleased each and every time. The speed of service and quality of the rifles I have received have been excellent. Now I am going to try a Danish model and have no doubt I will be as happy as with the other 3. I collect a number of different rifles, including a number from WWII which include a German Mauser and a Russin Mosin. I hope to help fill out my collection with a nice example from that era. Again, thanks for the great job you are doing. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Robert L.

12-07-04

Sirs and Ladies, Thanks! After a cleaning and stripping of the stock and application of Tung oil, I couldn't be happier with my service grade Garand.  The barrel and boltface are beautiful! The date of receiver manufacture (Feb. 1944) coincides with the time my grandfather was in basic training before his shipment to Europe with the 5th Infantry Division (the Red Diamonds) as a BAR rifleman. He eventually was wounded during the Ruhr Pocket offense in Germany and returned home. Thanks for the opportunity to own and shoot a piece of American history. K. M. C.

12-07-04

Dear CMP, I placed an order in Nov. and received my Remington 1903A3 in just 15 working days. The Remington 1903A3 is in excellent shape, clean up really nice, and shots fine, it's what I always wanted! Thank You CMP, for the Great Service!
Jack L.

12-07-04

Dear CMP, I have had the pleasure of working with you all for a couple of years now and it has been a very good experience. It is rare to find an organization that works so well and is so pleasant to deal with.

I have ordered three rifles from you - a Garand, a 1903 and a 1903A3. I have also ordered ammo and other miscellaneous items. In each case, my order was promptly filled and shipped. You also sent me a courtesy e-mail when my membership in my affiliated club expired. I am impressed. As my daughter would say, "You guys rock!"  I would like to show my appreciation for this outstanding service and send you all something to share in the office (some Starbucks coffee beans). Paul Brian C.

12-06-04

This is my first M1 and I am totally satisfied with the rifle I received. Service was extremely fast.  I am very pleased with the whole program. Thank you !!! Kenny H.

CMP North Store - I just visited CMP North and wanted to pass along my heartfelt thanks for the outstanding help of the fine CMP folks I met. "PeeWee" and George had an encyclopedic knowledge of the Garands, 1903s and 1917s and were more than happy to spend quite some time with me helping to select rifles fitting my interests. Please pass to Mr. Michaels my highest compliments on the courteous, helpful nature of the crew at CMP North. Mike (Panzer)

M1903 CMP Rifle. Once cleaned up and cosmoline removed along with the old finish on the stock and replaced with linseed oil and some minor metal work
- it looks like a million dollars to me. Keep up the good work! Jim W. Sand Springs, OK.

12-04-04

Dear CMP, I was overwhelmed at the beautiful condition of the service grade rifles I ordered. (One Greek and 3 US). Wonderful shape. The customer service was incredibly nice and considerate. I received my order just 14 days from putting it in the mail. Thanks very much, Michael R.

12-04-04

On the 1st of December I received (2) M1 rifles from your sales program: (1) Springfield USGI SG and (1) Springfield Greek RG. Both rifles arrived 14 days after placement of order. After stripping both stocks with Easy-off and re-finishing them, the wood was surprisingly good, and in very sound order. The hot water soaking / wipe down actually popped 70% of the dents and dings right out, flush with the surface. The stripping process can be found on the Fulton Armory web page. It really works well.

On the Greek gun, there is about 60% park remaining, however there are no signs of rust or pitting on any surfaces of the gun, even after complete disassembly. Bonus, the Greek Springfield "manufactured in 1944, arrived in it's box with a beautiful Winchester bolt and an National Match op-rod. All critical tolerances were mic'd and found to be in blueprint condition. The NM op-rod at .526 all the way around. The replacement barrel is 6-51 and is quite worn and a little dark, with a TE of roughly 7 and 1/8" showing on the muzzle test. Still a good shooter, but it won't win any matches. While cosmetically the metal is worn, it has not been abused. Overall a terrific shooting grade gun loaded with nostalgia. Oddly enough, as you had advertised, the Greek stock had initials engraved into the wood. The up-side however is that the gun was for my father, and the initials in the stock are the same as his. Thanks for the personal touch.

The SG "manufactured 1945" arrived with overall parkerizing at roughly 85%+ over the whole gun, an almost unused Springfield curved 9 op-rod with a piston tip mic'd at .526, and what appears to be an unused H&R / U.W. Bolt. Trigger group is a spotless, possibly unused H&R with the added bonus of a milled Springfield trigger guard. Replacement barrel is a Springfield 7-52 which does not appear to have been fired other than for test purposes. TE of just under 1, and the bullet test at the muzzle shows just over 1/4". Gun came with nicely matched walnut stock and hand guards which cleaned up readily. Overall a very nice rifle at twice the price.

Needless to say, I appreciate everything the ODCMP is doing to make these guns available to civilian collectors and shooters. I will be placing another order for my children within the next week so that they may share in the opportunity to own and shoot these significantly historical pieces. Thanks again for all your hard work and remarkable customer service. Wade S . Albany, OR.
