I received the 03 and 03A3 rifles, in very good shape. They cleaned up, into two very fine rifles. ( Hot water, paint thinner and my wife's hair dryer...
GOOD HAIR DRYER,,, I believe, she mentioned.) Many, many thanks for your great job. Yours, Carl R. T.

Comments:  Just received my Danish rack grade M-1. Didn't know what to expect. I am well pleased with the rifle. It is more than I expected it would be. It feels great to have an M-1 in hand again. There is just nothing like an M-1.
Thanks CMP. Great service. Barry J.K.

I recently received an H&R M1 Greek issue. What I received was what seems to be a new rifle. The TE gages at "0", the Black Parkerizing would rate 98+%.
The barrel date and the serial number date are in the same period. Placing a dummy cartridge in the muzzle shows an over 1/8" gap . All parts, with the exception of the trigger group show HRA. The trigger group shows SA, which I understand was standard in these late rifle. The only mystery is the stock.
It seems to be a light birch with no markings. Thanks for a gem! Carl W.

I received my M-1 on 11/02/04. It took less than a week to get here. Thank you. The rifle is a Springfield, completely blued with a tiny bit of wear on the tip of the sights. Walnut stock, dirty but cleaned up nicely. Very little grease in and on the gun. All metal parts look like new except for the rifling at the muzzle. Probably worn by the cleaning rod.
Thanks again, Bill L., Fair Oaks, Ca.

I placed my first CMP order for a service grade M1 Garand and couldn't be happier. I wasn't sure what to expect because I had heard all sorts of stories from various sources were one person got a near collector's grade rifle when he ordered his service grade, while another person said his rifle was beat up and needed a lot of tender loving care. Well when I received my M1 I was pleasantly surprised to find a WWII vintage rifle of exceptional quality rifle with nearly all correct parts.

When I placed my order I thought it would take months to receive my rifle and didn't plan to receive it until after the new year. When I received an email telling me that my order was shipping I nearly jumped out of my skin in excitement and anticipation. CMP received my order on 10/21/2004 and my rifle was delivered on 10/26/2004 - 6 days total including a weekend. I am completely happy with my rifle and it's condition and highly recommend anyone interested in M1's and 1903's to check out the CMP. This was my first order but I can guarantee it will not be my last. Thanks to the CMP for everything they do.

Sincerely, Mark M.

You probably heard it before but it is worth repeating: " I just received my first weapon from the CMP, a Remington 1903 A3, and I am not only surprised with the turn a around, under 2 weeks, but the rifle is excellent, matching numbered stock, barrel, receiver and bolt. I have some clean up of grease but I am looking forward to the project."
"THANK YOU FOR YOUR PROGRAM AND IT'S EFFICIENCY". Joseph S.S. Jr.

I couldn't be happier with the HRA M1 I received. Hardly any grease at all on it, looks to be just oiled and ready to go! Only problem I had was when I submitted my application, I didn't know if you guys received it or not. I think you might advise people to get some sort of mail that requires a return signature, just so the applicant is sure the information has reached you guys. Thanks again. Ken F.

11-22-04

I just received my first M-1 Garand and I couldn't have a better Xmas present.  The rifle arrived on the 19th in great shape and I sent in my application only on the 5th. You have a great shipping department!!!!!  Please extend my thanks to whoever selected my M-1 from your inventory.  It was exactly what I was looking for. I just wish we could trace the history from the armory to now.  I have another M-1 (my first) that I know was on the island of Okinawa during WWII. A Seabee recovered the rifle off the beach, cleaned it up and had it decommissioned by a Navy Lt. I have the decommissioning papers.

Thanks once again. You folks at CMP are doing a great job. I'll keep watching for the Carbines and the C stock 03A3 Springfield's if you ever get some.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas

Bob

Received my Greek CG SA Garand on the 18th (mailed the order for s Greek rack grade on the day after the election, then asked CMP to switch my order to a CG about a week later.) Other than a couple of minor stock dings, and a little wear on the buttplate--a place about 2mm square shows bare metal-- this rifle is perfect! At least, it's exactly what I hoped to get, not disappointed in the least. Serial 5454xxx, nice charcoal grey parkerizing, not a hint of wear, reddish-brown walnut stock & HG. The grease coated everything, but is not that thick except around the bolt, and there's gobs
there. Thanks CMP! Colt1851Navy

11-20-04

Received Greek CG yesterday. Thank you, thank you for such a pristine, beautiful rifle. And thank you for the fast and---as always---friendly service. CMP is, as I've said many times before, the world's greatest gun shop! Adam S. J.

Dear Mr. Michaels,

On 11-5-04 I traveled with a friend (800 mile round trip) to your store in Camp Perry for the first time. I must say that I have never been treated better by any business I have ever dealt with. Your staff could not do enough to assist us from the moment we walked in, until we left five hours later with five very nice Springfields and Garands.

Our thanks to "Pee Wee" and his co-workers for a very enjoyable experience which we hope to repeat in the future. I have never met staff so willing to respond to a request or question. I noticed also that other customers were treated this way no matter what their interests. We also observed that staff seemed to enjoy working with each other as they went about their duties.

Thank you for the job you all do and I hope you can make your store employees aware of this letter and extend to them our gratitude. Sincerely, Charles W P.

11-16-04

First order in quite some time - arrived in 12 days, from the day I mailed it out ! Sure beats the 9 months it used to be. My two Greek Springfields were: a well-used 1952 Springfield, and an excellent to like new condition Feb. 1943 Springfield! These will both be cherished additions to my collection, and to my range service rifles. Thank you so much for the great service, and the two great rifles! Mike, W. VA

11-15-04

Hi, and thanks for the great web site! I am writing to say thanks for the info on field stripping my M-1! I haven't had one for so long that I forgot how to take it apart for cleaning. I hope your organization continues to thrive. Thanks again Paul R .

11-12-04

Thanks for a wonderful first experience in ordering. I was impressed first by the speed; a week after sending in my order, the FedEx truck was at my door. The collector's grade Garand is all that I expected and, while I'll want to do some cleaning of the M1903 Springfield, it matches your description of service grade condition perfectly. Regards, Robert A.

11-12-04

All I can say is Wow! Nine days after mailing my first order I received a very nice Springfield Armory M1 Garand. Thank you, for the excellent product and first rate service! You will be seeing more orders from me in the future. Sincerely, John B. J Jr. , Petersburg, IL

11-11-04

I recently placed my first order to the CMP. My only regret is that I did not do it 30 years ago. I'm a Viet Nam veteran Marine and you guys have given me the best Veteran's Day ever! Thanks again. Bob P. Chitown.

11-11-04

Hey Guys Just a brief note to tell you I took my recently received CMP M1 Garand to a gunsmith with many years of M1 experience.
He described my rifle as "near mint", "hardly shot", "best condition I've seen except for unissued". I knew I had an exceptional rifle, now I know its a gem (and so is the CMP). Jay B., Palm Desert, CA . ps - It shoots great too!

11-11-04

Dear CMP I wanted to drop you folks a line and tell you how pleased I am with your fine organization. I received 2 M1's last spring and the better of the pair can keep 5 shots in 1.75 moa with surplus ball ammo ! We have a 55 gallon drum set in our pasture 512 yards away that my oldest son, who is 10 , can ding at least 5 times out of each clip of 8 shooting with a tight sling. He loves shooting it as the recoil is so mild.  I have shot modern rifles and handguns my whole life and I can't remember enjoying a gun so much. I pack these rifles everywhere and have shot them more in the past 9 months than I have shot any other centerfire rifle in my life. I even shot prairie dogs in Wyoming last summer, and did pretty well out to 150 yards. Keep up the good work and you'll be hearing from us soon as all 3 of my sons needs his own M1! PAUL I .

11-10-04

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help and information at the CMP north store, I just purchased a Springfield Rack grade and after getting it home and cleaning it up, it is one the nicest M-1s I have ever seen and I really like the certificate that comes with the gun too..thanks again Joe from Michigan

11-09-04

Dear CMP,
I just got out of bed a few minutes ago and my wife said the BWT had left a rifle for me. Ran into the kitchen and tore the box open just like I used to do at Christmas. Inside to my happy eyes, lay one of the most beautiful HRA Garands that I had ever saw. (HRA Greek Rack) After showing it to my wonderful wife, she said that I probably should order another. I just wanted to tell you folks, that this is the second Greek Rack grade rifle I have received over the past three weeks, and I am very happy with both. You folks have always treated me right, and I am just so thankful that you make it possible for military shooters and collectors like to own such historic pieces of American history. When I pass into the sunset, they will pass onto my little boy, who is being trained in safety and respect for firearms. Thank you for all you do... and I'll be looking forward to my next purchase! Larry S . Canton, MO

11-08-04

I just received my M1 Garand. My friend got his last week and we were very pleased with the speed of the delivery and the quality of the rifle. We couldn't believe that it came so quickly. I got the lower grade of rifle so we could more or less compare the different grades of Garands. I'm very happy with mine as he is with his. Thank you for the quick service. I'll do some good word of mouth advertising for the Program! P.S. My last name is spelled wrong on the paperwork I got with the rifle. No big problem, with my name it happens all the time. Rod S . C.

I would like to thank the ladies at the e-store for all their help and fast service of my order. A great group of people. Thanks again. Edward B.

11-06-04

Mr Michaels, I am writing to thank you for allowing me to volunteer at CMP South last month October 14 and 15. Your staff were all very friendly and helpful while I was down. After we were done working they helped me select two very nice WW2 SA service grade M1s both with original barrels and one with original finish, and a very nice 1903A3. I would also like to thank you for the tour of the facility. The CMP is by far one of the best run businesses that I have seen you and your staff do an excellent job. I look forward to volunteering at CMP south again soon. Keep up the good work.
Thanks: Nick H.

11-06-04

Thanks to you that work at the CMP order dept. I received my M1 Garand in only 8 days and am thrilled that it is so nice for a foreign issue.
Thanks again, Ernest S.

11-05-04

CMP Service was spectacular!! 8 Days, from me dropping my order in the mailbox via snail mail, to holding my M-1 Garand! Could not have been better..again, I'm extremely pleased all around. Thanks CMP.top notch!!

Ah yes! Finally got her out of the box last night. How cool! USGI SG SA with
1944 serial number. Stock certainly looks original, showing the expected 'character' dings and scratches. The front hand guard looks as though it may have been replaced, and has a now somewhat marred clear coat finish of some sort on it. The rear hand guard matches the stock, and appears to be original, with what looks like a small hair line crack at the top, running straight from the clip back towards the chamber, nothing major.
Unfortunately, no visible cartouche, but all in all, not bad. The butt plate is in good shape, with a good, tight hinge on the plate cap. No apparent rust, anywhere, even on the sling swivels.

Did not get a chance as yet to strip, and keep in mind I'm just learning to crawl in my M-1 knowledge, but I did remove the trigger housing group, and barrel and receiver group for a quick inspection of the metal parts. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy that was. What a great advantage for the men in the field. What a fine rifle.

The receiver looks almost brand new. It's in amazing shape for being 60 years old, and looks to be bare metal free of any Parkerizing. The trigger housing group is stamped type, marked SA, is like new, and appears to have been part of a rebuild as it is a dark OD, in what I assume is Parkerizing (Is this correct?).

The bolt assembly is an obvious rebuild, marked H&R, again like new.
Everything in the chamber, the follower assembly, etc. is likewise.

The rear sight assembly appears to have been upgraded to the Post WW II
T105E1 using my Scott Duff Garand Owner's Guide for reference, and it too is basically as new.

The gas cylinder is marked H&R (well, at least the screw is), and from the outside looks to be in good shape, still maintaining it's black color, and not 'bared' as I've read described of others.

Have not been able to get to the barrel markings yet, but it certainly appears to be not original, as it's rifling is very good judging from my rudimental flash light and look test, and though I don't have a muzzle gauge as yet, on the 'bullet test' it seemed very tight. Probably 3/8" (at least) exposed bullet showing to the edge of casing.

All in all, I'm thrilled! I got just what I was hoping for. It looks as though I got a great solid 'shooter', with the flavor of history (in the receiver anyway) I wanted! My son and my wife both thought it was very cool, and he doesn't know it yet, but he'll be getting one to call his own very soon!

Can't wait to work on the wood a bit, and get that ugly clear coat off that hand guard, though. Honestly, I was looking forward to having to do a LITTLE something to the rifle anyway. ;-) DAN S. Jacksonville, FL

I served in the armed forces 5/63-5/65. My father and all my uncles served in WWII and Korea. Needless to say I trained with the M1 Garand. I consider it an honor to own and collect these rifles M1's and 03's etc. I believe you guys and gals in the CMP are doing a great job. This will be my third time to receive rifles from the CMP. The first one was when it was still the DCM 1992-3. "WOW" we've come a long way. Continue the good work and pass the word that there are lots of guys and now even gals that still appreciate a part of our country's history known as Springfield & John C Garand. Take care. A CMP Friend. Thomas J U. Brooklyn, NY.

11-01-04

Dear Folks at CMP, just wanted to drop you a quick line to thank you so very much for sending me a really beautiful Rem 1903. I received it Oct. 29, and when I opened the box I felt like a kid at Christmas time. I can't wait till next spring to use her in a match. Please keep up the good work especially
with your Youth Programs and Thank You all again. Sincerely - Michael O.

11-01-04

I would like to thank the CMP for an outstanding job!! My rifles were in my hands TWO days after the CMP received my order! This is superb customer service. I ordered two rifles, without specifying, and I received a SA 1943,
2.1 million SN, rifle with original barrel and original (non cut) operating rod! (I'll have to replace that!) I cannot believe the quality, care and professionalism of the CMP! Thank you, SFC Jeffrey M.

10-26-04

Hello good people. I put in an order for some M1 parts on Oct.20,2004 and received them on Oct.25,2004.
This was my first order from CMP and I want to THANK YOU for your FAST response and delivery by FEDEX.
It was a pleasure doing business with you. I hope my future orders will be handled in the same manner.
Thank you again. Jerry M.

10-24-04

Thank you CMP! I received my Danish SA RG Garands eight days after mailing my order. One of them is a prewar rifle (5 digit serial number)! I respect the history and sacrifice these rifles represent. I will have lots of fun cleaning and restoring these rifles and sharing their history with family and friends. THANK YOU, AGAIN! God Bless. Scott H . Yakima, WA

10-22-04

Thank you for the update. I just received an M144 US Mossberg .22 rifle in much better condition than advertised! I will put this rifle to use this rifle along with the other Mossbergs and target 22s I have purchased over the years to equip a 10 cadet strong NJROTC team that I sponsor from Sep thru March each year. And the M44s get a lot of use with the Boy Scouts as well. My thanks to you and all the CMP staff for making marksmanship training possible despite many hurdles and challenges.  Jim R.

10-21-04

Outstanding program and more important the folks that make it all happen, the staff. I wish that every industry/seller could take lessons from you folks on sales and service! Your faithful customer, Russ C.

10-21-04

Just wanted to let you know that I received my M1 rifles. They are really neat, and I am very happy with them. I can't believe you folks could get my first-time order to me in nine days!! Thanks, Joe (Lubbock, TX)

10-21-04

I just got the M1 I ordered today and she is absolutely beautiful. Exactly what I was hoping for. BUT what I really wanted to say is I have NEVER worked with a more PLEASANT organization than yours. From the time I first got interested in ordering an M1 until I received my M1 was only a week - WOW. And the couple times I called to discuss something, your people were the most helpful and friendliest, and yes this might be a tiny bit sexist but the ladies I spoke to had the most wonderful southern accent - It was a joy to talk to them and to do business with them. THANK YOU more than words can express. Andrew W.

10-19-04

Hey guys , great job and a well done. So far I have purchased a Danish service grade M-1, a Greek M-1 Garand. Both were in very good condition. I had also bought your throat erosion gauge and muzzle wear gauge, and both M-1 rifles measured a te of 1, and the muzzle was a 1. I have truly been blessed to get two M-1's that were so tight on the throat and muzzle. The finish was about 85 % at the least. The bores look like they had never had even one round thru them. How lucky can a guy be?

I also bought a 03-A3, and it too has a perfect bore. The 1903 high # 1903 that I bought was made in 9/31. But it had had a lot of corrosive ammo shot thru it. The rifling is good, but just a little rough. But this has to normal for a barrel made in 9/31. I guess this rifle was never reworked in it's entire life. Although I did find that I can purchase a brand new WW2 barrel from XXXX with the sight base for $175.00 Back when this 03 was made they didn't know anything about non-corrosive primers.

But all very well pleased with all 4 rifles. Avery big THANK YOU to CMP.
Kennedy L. H . Willis, Texas

10-18-04

On 10-7-04 I sent the paperwork via snail mail to you folks for my first M1.
On 10-14-04 about 9:30AM my doorbell rings and it is a nice package from Santa Claus, I mean you guys. Thanks for excellent and fast service. Oh, nice gun you sent. Thanks again. Jack E. M. Jr.

10-17-04

Thank you for the very prompt service. Both rifles arrived in good shape yesterday. I've already test fired them at Tri-County Gun Club. Functioning appears flawless and accuracy with commercial ball ammunition is acceptable.

I am amazed at how quickly the rifles arrived. I'll be placing an order for ammunition at a later date. Respectfully, Robert S.

10-17-04

Dear CMP folks:

Received my 1903 Mark I Springfield and M1 Garand stripped receiver on Oct. 15, 2004. Was pleasantly surprised to get shipment so fast! since I sent in the order on Oct. 4th. Expected a much longer waiting time. Always wanted a 1903 Mark I rifle - this is a great old vet. Probably saw service overseas. Packing is excellent. Thanks again. Will be doing business again soon. John G. Cedar Grove, NJ

10-17-04

Made my first visit to the CMP North Store at Camp Perry. The help, courtesy, and relaxed atmosphere were just great. Much like the small town gunshops we used to know or work at, good people, together for a common interest. Friends, we can't let these good things be cast along the wayside, support the CMP! Go BUY something! Dan U .x

10-16-04

The CMP is awesome!! I received my first two rifles (Greek M1's) earlier this week and I've been too busy messing with them to let you all know how happy I am. The customer service is top notch. It took nine days from mailing my order to when the rifles were in my hands. Now I just have to save up for my next M1!! Utah Tom

10-16-04

Would like to relay to all at CMP that my 1st experience in purchasing a M1 ended 10.12.2004 ... [it began 10.08.2004 when my papers arrived at Anniston AL ... 10.12.2004 FedEx delivers] ... Thanks for all the necessary information before hand and the system to deliver when everything has been submitted and in order ... may our next transaction be the same.
Many Thanks. Charles L. H. Virginia

10-15-04

You can never know--How pleased I am. My 1st order with My info package was received by you 09:15 10-13 . I received my order today (10-15) at 10:30am.
That is 49 1/2 hours for a 1st order. We live in Leadville Co app 150 from the Denver airport, we are not on a main road. On top of that I received exactly what I wanted!!!!!!!!!!! The initial tears are over and the joy has set in. This old soldier is very pleased. My second order is on the way. Stephen W C .

10-14-04

My satisfaction with all CMP products and services has exceeded my expectations. Keep up the good work for America's shooters. Wayne H., Hbg., PA
