BRAVO ZULU CMP! Received my SA/SG Garand Friday, 9 days from mailing in my order to delivery. Service like that is to be commended. I had asked for a early issue with a "65" rebarrel. That is just what I received. All in pristine shape. The barrel looks like it has been only test fired for function, sharp and bright. Gave the stock a cleaning with "Purple Cleaner", I found hidden underneath many years of oil, dirt and assorted grime, a beautiful walnut stock with minimal dints and dings, added a light coat of BLO and the color returned to that well used red/brown. I fear my next order will be in the mail shortly. Great service,Great product,Thank you, Michael C

Hi Guys, I have to tell you how please (ecstatic) I am with my first purchases from CMP. I mailed my order form from Atlanta on September 28th and received the rifles on October 8th. I was expecting the 45-90 days stated on your web site and was pleasantly shocked. Also, the Garand and the 1903A3 were in much better condition than I could have hoped.
You guys are the greatest and I just had to say thanks. Steve H.

Just wanted you folks to know that I really am impressed by your organization and service.
Thanks for providing me with two fine rifles and answering some of the questions I've had.
The Danish M-1 was for nostalgia, and the '03A3 was mostly for curiosity, but I've become a big fan of that type.
Thanks again . Don T.

Just want to take time to say "job well done" on my recent order of a Remington 1903-A3. I received a rifle that far exceeded my expectations, given some of the reviews I had read on several web sites. As I am a former Marine who shot high expert, I expect to be training my grandson on the 1903, 1903-A3, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M1A and AR15. Without the DCM and now the CMP, two of these rifles would not have been possible. Keep up the good work. J. Larry D.

Hello! Just got my second M-1 Garand from you at the beginning of September and I am putting it to good use! Here is a note I posted to the Curio and Relics Internet group last night regarding the fun that my foster son and I had yesterday with the two Garands. The third on is on order with you now!  Here's the note:  This was probably the most fun I have had in a long time! The last two weekends I have spent putting siding on the garage, making up for time I lost this past summer when all it did in June was rain. I finished up the front gable end and decided that that was it for this season, will finish it up next spring....
About 2:30 when I finished and I really wanted to shoot some. My foster son wanted to shoot the Garand so bad last weekend and all I did were chores. We have been accumulating milk jugs and plastic soda bottles to fill with water and blast. I decided that he was familiar enough with the Garand to go more than single shot, and my black finger tip from two weeks ago is not going to stand another slamming in the Garand mechanism! So, I put the tools away and he was right there when I moved the Garand to the kitchen table. He wondered if he could shoot... I said that HE was the entire reason the I wanted to shoot, that shooting with him was so damn much fun it was almost addicting!  He just smiled and I asked him to carry some stuff out to the shooting bench.  When he came back in I had TWO Garands on the kitchen table! I saw then the biggest smile that that kid has ever made! Picture a 114 pound kid, eager to be pushed around by a Garand! We hauled the jugs and bottles out to the bench, then I put a couple of paper targets on the target holder about 75 yards down range to check the sighting on the latest Garand from the CMP. This was giving me some grief the last time I fired it as the sight adjustments were so tight (new) that until I loosened the screw on the elevation side, both windage and elevation moved at the same moment. Not no more! Three sighters with that one and then another three to check the other Garand and both were hitting in the 9 ring with three shots using that 1954 black tip ammo.  I explained the rules of the game to him. We took 16 jugs and bottles filled with water and scattered them at various distance down range.  I told him that on the signal from my neighbor, who had just appeared to watch the action, we would both begin to shoot eight rounds and see who could kill the most jugs before the ammo ran out. I thought I had his butt beat and so I let him fire using the rest on the shooting bench. The neighbor gave the "Ready on the right, ready on the left, commence firing", and in less time that you can say it, the little character blew up six jugs and I got three! He beat MY BUTT! And did he rub it in!!! He was so happy, he jumped in the air and said, "What a rush", over and over, also said, "Man, is my adrenaline pumping"!! I was so proud of him that I couldn't help but congratulate him several times!  Even the ex-Air Force Sarge neighbor had a large grin on his face! He remarked. "I'll be go to hell"!! a couple of times and shook Peter's hand!  The kid just grinned! We picked up the "dead ones" and put out some new jugs and repeated the action. The first time around, I sat on the ground and fired, this time I stood up and made myself settle down... Eight more rounds and this time he nailed five and I got four... I would have gotten more, but the kid kept nailing the one I was aiming at a split second before I pulled the trigger! Then began the repeat of jumping in the air, smiles, racing down to put more jugs in place and at the end all we had left were eight jugs. Same process, this time I am proud to say that we each got 4 jugs and at that, he put the Garand on the bench, ran over to me and gave me the biggest hug I have gotten in years!! He's still smiling at me as he catches my glance while he watches "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" on satellite. What a hell of a day! This is what Garands from the CMP were meant to do! Can't wait until next weekend.  This is long, but I really wanted to share it with you all.  Greg T.

Just wanted to give a big thank you to the people at the North Store. I was there yesterday and purchased a Danish rack grade Garand. Everyone was extremely helpful, and answered any questions I had. I apologize, I don't remember the name of the gentleman that looked the rifle over for me and helped me pick out a good one, but I wanted to make sure I said something here. This is the second M1 I've purchased, and I'm sure there will be more. Thank you, Jeff B.

I just want to say thank you. I have purchased three rifles through CMP (including DCM). All have met or exceeded my expectations, and are shooters though they will be but lightly used. Your people are courteous, and it has been a pleasure dealing with them. RBM, Fort Worth, TX

Dear CMP:

In August, I placed my first order for a Service Grade M1 Rifle. I did this with some second thoughts - after all, buying a used rifle that's older than I am "sight unseen" carries some risks. Two weeks to the day after sending in my order, FedEx delivered a long package, inside of which was a very, very, nice 1955 vintage M1 rifle, apparently still wearing the original barrel, which was bright and shiny, with a stock having only enough dings to add a little character. After a bit of clean-up and lube, the rifle proved itself on the range, functioning flawlessly and delivering 2" x 3" groups at 100 yards with LC72 ball ammo . . . in my hands, that's not bad at all. I'd just like to give CMP a great big "THANK YOU" - I'm very pleased with my piece of history. John J. S . Lakeway, TX

Greetings, I have, over the years, purchased approximately 29 or 30 rifles and lots of ammunition from the CMP. I can only say that next to the National Rifle Association your organization is one of the most important to the shooting public of this country. Every American should be a member and "set-up" with the CMP. The truly unique products you supply and the excellent service you offer is overall, just great. I am and will be a loyal customer always! Thanks, Tom S . Jr. Livingston, MT

I received my first two rifles (1 rack grade Greek Springfield M-1 and 1 High Serial No M-1903) and was impressed beyond words with both. I was expecting both not to be in as good condition as received. With the exception of the stock needing a bit of attention the 1903 was perfect. The Greek M1 was in better shape than most M-1's that I have seen for sale commercially at twice the price and has already been to the range. I was pleasantly surprised with its performance at 100 yds. This morning while checking the status on my back ordered H & R Greek rack grade I ordered a second Springfield. The customer service rep was great. Thanks for the fantastic experience and I will be looking for my next two rifles.

 Thanks
and keep up the good work, Rick M. (Oklahoma City)

I received a Winchester M1 last week that had been on order for 2-3 months or maybe more. I had sent in a money order (so I could enjoy knowing it was paid for when I got it) and patiently waited. I knew that it would take awhile but was beginning to get a little worried as you were no longer taking orders for them. The wait was more than worth it!!! It took my breath away when I saw the rifle! I am not a knowledgeable Garand collector but I know a beautiful rifle when I see it. I have purchased several rifles from CMP for myself and for my son. We have received some real nice ones and some not so nice but all have been worth every penny of what we paid. However, the Winchester is out of this world. When I have more time I will use the resources of the Garand Collectors Assoc to find out more about the rifle. Thanks for all your good work. Ed W ...Morrisville, VT

I've said it before and I'll say it again: CMP has the best customer service in the free world; therefore the universe.

Today I received my CMP M1 Garand, just as I had requested. WW2 May 1944.

Original barrel and receiver....

It is beautiful, and in very good condition. I am very, very pleased with your service, delivery and quality. This is my first CMP rifle, and I hope to buy a few more. We are in the midst of cleanup here after the disaster caused by Hurricane Charley. We were hit hard by the storm, and it was a welcome surprise that made living without power and water for 3 days bearable again. Amazing that FedEx was able to get through with the delivery, as we are having trouble finding ice, water and gas. I don't need water, power or food, only a flashlight and gun oil !!! Thanks to you and the staff at the ODCMP, you have made me very happy, and made my week. :-).

I just received my H&R M1, S/N 4,686,xxx today 13 October 2004, less than a month after I mailed my application. The rifle is in great shape!!! The only thing I have to do is minor cleaning of the stock, check the chamber and bore, load it and send 150 grains down range. I am very satisfied with the rifle and stunned that it came so quickly. Thank you CMP!!! Jay B . Palm Desert, CA

Howdy Folks,

Until three years ago, I had no idea that the CMP even existed. I found the website, inquired at my gun club as to whether we were affiliated (they were) and brought the appropriate paperwork, personally, to the CMP North Store at Camp Perry, from New Mexico, to purchase a “new” M1. I was so impressed with all the folks up at CMP HQ and the store that I have gone back each year to make a purchase.

I have since become such a believer in the Civilian Marksmanship Program that I have become the CMP Administrator for my gun club. We hold quarterly clinics, a Garand shoot, and a Junior Program. We have had approximately 60 people “graduate” from our clinics. It makes my heart feel good when a member comes up to me at the range and says “Hey, look at my ‘new’ Garand I just purchased”.

The CMP Club Program is the best aspect of this organization! It fosters respect for firearms, teaching of skills within the shooting sports, and a positive attitude toward firearms in general. It enables common folks to purchase a “shooter”, collector”, or “wall hanger” firearm legally for an attractive price. We purchase ammo for CMP Clinics and Matches at an extremely good price and the folks at CMP HQ offer program support which is first class.

Thank you CMP and keep up the good work! Fred E. C
