February 28, 2005

I received my 2nd CMP rifle, a Springfield 1903, this past Friday and by late evening it was all cleaned up and back together. It's got a like-new barrel and all the metal looks great. The stock has a few "character" dings and gouges but I expected that. My first CMP purchase was last November, a Remington 03-A3 that looks really nice and shoots even better. I expect the 03 will perform every bit as well. I guess I'll be ordering a Garand in a few months!

Ladies and Gentlemen

I recently ordered a Remington 1903A3 and upon receiving it I was both elated and a little bit scared. (order #50495) It was greasy and dirty and looked like it had previously been abandoned. It was obvious this rifle needed some TLC.

It took me a good 8 to 10 hours to bring it back to life but it was worth every minute of my time. It now looks almost new. The parkerizing was fresh and the wood underneath the old finish was strong and bright. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised when I had finished.

I took that rifle to the range a few days ago and shot it for the first time. It was the first time I had ever fired a 1903 and the first time I fired a 30-06. It had no bad habits and I actually could group the shots. I again was pleasantly surprised.

I'm ready for the next step. I have sent along my application for a Garand service grade rifle. I hope this one turns out as nice as the last one. Please feel free to pleasantly surprise me again. Thank you for your efforts and the great job you are doing. I only hope some day to visit you and thank you all in person. Kris G.

I wish I had checked into CMP earlier. I'd seen the ads in the American Rifleman but thought I wouldn't be able to get one. I am now the proud owner of a WW2 SA SG M1 that will remain in my family for now on. I highly recommend CMP to anyone interested in owning an M1, or for any firearm they sale. I have only spoke on the phone with one lady and she was very friendly and informative. Matt H.

I received my HRA Greek CG M1 last Thursday and it is a gem. It is like you described, like new with a few handling marks. Couldn't be happier. Thank you and CMP. Emil J. S .

I received my two rack grade Greek H&R M1 Garands yesterday. Thanks for your prompt response. I really appreciate how concerned your staff is to the needs of your customers. You can be assured that I will probably purchase at least one or two Springfield Garands in the near future. I have recommended several of my friends at the range to check out your M1 page. Mike S.

Mr Michaels, I dealt with Pee Wee and Mr. George Ball this morning. They were so very kind, polite, knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. Just wanted you to know how these fine men are performing for people like me, that are so Garand inept. Keep up the good work! Eric H.

HELLO, received the M1 you shipped...right on schedule! Amazing! The rifle is just about as you described it would be. Not pretty but good barrel, good metal, all there but wood looked pretty rough...however, the wood is very solid and with a little work it will look very nice. Great gun, great service, you guys do what ya say...when ya say and its a pleasure to deal with you. The only question: Cleaning stuff that goes in the butt of the stock? Can I get a kit somewhere? Thanks from a happy customer..haven't fired one of these since early 50's....hope to this summer. Jim L . F.V.Ca.

I just received my M1 SA SG Garand. It is the first rifle I have purchased from the CMP.

My family is a military family; with my father, my brother, myself, and now my son, all career soldiers. In my initial service I trained on the M1, as did my father before me. I was talking to my son about his upcoming deployment to Iraq and feeling nostalgic about the Army when I decided to obtain an M1 to have in the family. I have wanted to do this for years, but for some reason I never did.

I cannot describe how it feels to have this old warrior in my hands. I am an active target shooter and this rifle will see a good deal of range time.
Eventually it will be given to my son. I just wanted to thank you for sending this rifle. It is in beautiful shape, far beyond what I expected.
It has the marks of service but they are few, minor and cosmetic only. I consider them to be badges of honor.

You folks are doing a great service for old soldiers like me and I am grateful. Respectfully, Steve S. formerly Captain, U.S. Army. Lancaster, PA

It finally came!!

Dear Judy : I got my M-1 today, about 30 minutes ago.  I'm completely speechless!!  My wife will tell you that's no mean feat, either!!  The other day when I called I was told by the other lady,  I forget her name, that if I would be patient for a couple more weeks I could get what I originally asked for.  Well, it only turned out to be a couple of DAYS!  I checked the order progress daily on the website and when I saw it was ready to ship I almost fell over.  I looked up the serial number last night on Dick Culver's shooting pages and my rifle was made in June of 1944.The same month as D-Day!!!  Pleased just seems too inadequate of a word.  I haven't fired it yet, obviously, because I wanted to let you know I got it and how pleased I am.  If it performs as well as it looks, it will turn out to be an excellent piece.  It should go without saying that I will be recommending you to anyone who asks. I just can't get over what beautiful shape it's in for being almost 61 years old!!!
I look forward to doing business with you again and I mean that sincerely. I hate to sound like a kid on Christmas morning, but that's what it feels like.  Thank You and everyone else at CMP so very much for helping me and sending a beautiful rifle that I will thoroughly enjoy, along with my kids. Brett P .

may God bless you and keep you safe and well

I received the SA Service Grade M1 today and would like to express my thanks for the outstanding service. The rifle is in great shape and I'd like to thank whoever picked it out. To say that I'm pleased would be a significant understatement. Sincerely, W.C.L.

Received my SA GK CG M1 last week. I'm very pleased. Thank you CMP very much. One note, the box that the M1 was shipped in had a silver dollar size hole punched in the side of the box. Nothing on the inside received any damage. Thanks, Tom A.

My Service Grade Greek Issue M1 arrived today. I am pleasantly surprised by the overall very good condition, the excellent bore (no TE gauge yet, but
soon) and especially by the quick service. I put the check in the mail on 1/18/05, and 22 days later, it was delivered. Thank you so much for the superb service, and the chance to own a little bit of our history.
Thanks again. Brian P.

I'm really sorry, I guess I was just too anxious. I received the rifle the next day after I sent the email. Figures, huh? Anyway, thank you so much for checking. On my next order, I'll try to be more patient. The rifle is great!! I've wanted one since I was a kid, It's as great as I thought it would be. My son, whose 18, has been eyeing it. I think we'll be placing another order soon. We started with CMP with Garands and have been very please with the quality of rifles we have received. Thank you so much for all your help. Greg

I just open the boxes on my 1903 Springfield and 1903A3 Remington and could not be happier. The Springfield was mfg. in 1921 and has a 2-22 barrel. The stock has the finger groves. Stock looks to be in good shape. Obviously have not has a chance to clean it up yet. The 1903A3 was mfg 1942 and has
1944 barrel. Slant stock no finger groves. Looks as good as the 1903. Very happy with what I got. Just thought you would like to know. Will let you know how they clean up. Thanks. David M.H.
