I am a retired army 1SG with 27 yrs served. I attended basic training in 1962 Oct-Dec. My class was the last class to use the M-1 garand and it was one of the most accurate firing weapons I have ever shot. When we fired for record I shot 96 out of 112 rds fired. I placed 3d with the 1st place shooter firing 98. Just a little info from a old 1Sg. Thanks BN. Bob N.

Just wanted to say thanks for the speedy service. The Anniston staff were great. They were very patient with me, and my questions. I felt like they went to the racks and said "this one I think Terry would like." I 'm very happy with my purchase, am now mailing for my second one. Thanks for making me a very satisfied customer. Terry B.

Hello. I received my 1903A3 and field grade M1 Garand today. I am very pleased with both rifles. Thank you very much! I intend for these to be "keepers". I consider both rifles to be great bargains. Again, thank you. William L. A.

August 22, 2005

I have ordered 3 rifles so far from CMP and have been extremely pleased with them. I want to pass on my thanks for your service and a special thanks for whomever pulled my M1 Garand. Please keep up the level of service because I will soon be ordering more rifles;). Bill H.

My compliments on the way your organization ran CMP week at Camp Perry during the Nationals again this year. Although I'm usually unable to get away from the farm long enough to make the trip from western Kansas to shoot at Perry, I have many friends who shoot there every year, and their comments
- as well as the vast majority I've read on the several online HP shooting websites I frequent - are very positive. Just looking at the number of shooters who compete during CMP week vs. NRA week tells the story. I'd also like to compliment your staff on the excellent & speedy job they do in getting the match results up online for those of us who aren't able to be there. If only the NRA would take a cue from you folks, I think perhaps it might help them reverse the decline in numbers of shooters who stay to participate in NRA week.

In my view, a very large percentage of the shooters who make the trip to Perry for the Nationals don't have enough vacation time to stay for both weeks, or can't afford both (or both), and have to make a choice between CMP or NRA week - and it's obvious which matches they feel are the better value.
Many have set the goal of earning a P100 tab and/or the Distinguished Rifleman Badge for themselves - and they rightly feel attaining these goals is more meaningful (both to themselves & their peers) than a handful of award points from the NRA.

I've also benefited from your sales programs - there are currently three fine rifles in my safe from the DCM/CMP that I'm very proud to own - a very nice SA M1 Garand, Rem.40X RF, and Win.M52D. The Garand is a piece of history that I thoroughly enjoy, and the two smallbore rifles have been quite an asset in my prone training - and are both still quite accurate with their preferred ammunition. So thanks to all of you at the CMP - for a job well done - and best wishes for continued success in carrying out your mission. Regards, Dennis S.

Ladies, Gentlemen, Today I received my order. Thank you. I have never had such outstanding service from anyone, anywhere! Everyone at the CMP involved in the process should be commended and rewarded for such professionalism and their commitment to excellence. I will be singing my praises about you to everyone, whenever the opportunity arises. Sincerely, Roger S.

Purchased an '03 Mark 1 last Friday from the North Store. Excellent 1.5/1.5 original barrel, good metal finish. Store staff, particularly George, were really helpful. Long way from Fla, but worth it. Respects, George S.

August 18, 2005

Hello CMP, I was hoping to get a rifle in good shape, and CMP surpassed my every expectation. I thought I had a good M1 till the rifle I ordered showed up. The finish is immaculate--beautiful M1. I am going to go to the range with it today. I know I won't be disappointed. Thanks. David M. R.

August 18, 2005

I ordered 3 Service Grade M1's. Two for a couple of guys that had longed for a Garand for as long as me, fingers crossed that nobody would get a dud or real shiner. They were identical in fit and finish. (How'd you do that?) How'd you make three old coots this happy? Well I'm ordering more! Surely I can find something to complain about on the next shipment. All seriousness, thank you very much. C.R., E.T., J.M .

August 16, 2005

WOW!!! I still can't believe it!! The Greek SA Service Grade is one of the BEST M1's I have received from the CMP. I had a USGI HRA on back order and was going to cancel. But I thought I would try a Greek SA S. G. and WOW glad I did, received a beautiful Garand!!! THANK YOU ,THANK YOU, CMP. Dennis J.G.

August 16, 2005

August 14, 2005

Hi. I just wanted to thank you for your excellent website. I found an M1 Garand parts kit at an estate sale last year and bought a receiver (CMP receiver) on Gunbroker.com and I just finished assembling the rifle by using the instructions on your site.

August 14, 2005

THIS year was the first time my father and myself went to CAMP PERRY to shoot in the Garand match. WE had a great time keep up the good work we will be back next year to shoot . THANKS AGAIN. David E.K.

August 13, 2005

Hi, I have been ordering and receiving many M1 rifles in the last 5 years.  Just want you to know that I have been very satisfied with the service and the condition of the M1's that I have received. Specially with the last 2 field grade Springfield rifles. I was really pleased!! Hopefully, this program continues for many years to come. Thanks Orest for all your hard work. Manfred B.

August 12, 2005

After hearing horror stories on the different forums, I was hesitant to order, thinking that I would get a piece of junk. What a complete surprise that awaited me when I opened up my two boxes. The M-1 Garand was the best that I have seen even on the Internet. The 03 Springfield although it needs a good cleaning, I am sure its just as good as the M-1. You have restored my confidence in the CMP. I'll be back to order more. Thanks for the wonderful pieces of history. I am in shock at the condition of the rifles that I received. There are great!!! John K.

Last week was my first Camp Perry visit and my first opportunity to visit the North Store. It was an absolute pleasure to meet and interact with the folks working and/or volunteering for the CMP. These were the nicest people, friendly, helpful and just down right fun to be around. All businesses should be so lucky to have these people working for them. I participated in 5 events with everything going smoothly. I have only one complaint and that is my shooting skills. I need more practice. So you can look for me to be ordering some ammunition for my 223 if you sell the Federal Match. I look forward to coming back to camp Perry next year for CMP week and will visit the South store as soon as it is open for business. The CMP is doing an excellent job. Thanks . Respectfully, Michael G. S . Slidell, LA

I received my service grade, Greek, M1 Garand two weeks after I ordered it.  I'm very pleased with the condition of the rifle. Matching serial numbers on receiver and barrel, and except for a couple small parts in the trigger group, it is all Springfield armory. Made in 1955. This is the first M1 Garand. I fired a friends at the rifle range a couple months ago shooting one clip. I liked the my friends M1 handled and shot, so I decided to get one from the C.M.P. I used a M16A1 while in the army, and was a Expert rifle shot with it, so I was kind of wondering how I would shoot a M1. Well after I took it to the range and fired around 200 rds threw it I found out that I shoot the M1 every bit as good as the M16, I'm impressed, I'm going to send for another. Tony D. U.S. Army ret

I just wanted to let you know that I got my H&R M12 late this morning, I am very pleased with the service, about ten days, thank you. The gun it self is in about new condition, with the exception of a couple of dings in the stock.......It's raining this afternoon, so I'll try it out in the next couple of days. Again thank you...........Paul

I just wanted to take a moment and thank you folks for the wonderful service you provide. Last Friday I received a 1903A3 less than 2 weeks from when I mailed the order. It is was greasy and black and provided an entire day of clean up enjoyment. Underneath was pristine metal and very acceptable wood. I can't wait to shoot it! I think it is a wonderful thing that you folks make these US battle rifles available to the public thus preventing these artifacts of American and World history from the cutting torch or melting pot. I wish there were more institutions like yours. In any event, a heartfelt thank you for allowing me to own this wonderful piece of our history. Sincerely. Todd S.

August 09, 2005

I received my order approximately 3 weeks to the day you received my paperwork. The two "Correct Grade" rifles I received were beyond my expectations. My regards to all the dedicated folks at the CMP. Thank you for all of your outstanding efforts. Ray G.

Many thanks to all the staff, especially the Store personnel. The only names I remember were George and Debbie. The were so many others. It was my first trip there. Now I know what you REALLY do, and you do it so well...great service, even with the hordes of shoppers. Can't wait for my next visit. Enjoying cleaning up my '03. Many thanks again. Ken S.

Comments:  I would like to take a moment and say thanks to everyone at the CMP for the very professional manner in which my order was handled as well as my subsequent enquiry regarding the stock. I found out after I submitted my order that it was sometimes possible to request s/n rages if there was a preference. I really wanted an M1 from the WWII era and since I had already submitted my order, I sent a reply to the acknowledgement email from Sandra requesting a WWII s/n if it was possible. To my delight when the M1 arrived it was in fact a Springfield made in May of 1944. Upon further investigation I was really pleased to see that it still had a properly dated barrel, trigger group (except the safety) and Bolt. I was even satisfied with the condition of the wood as a whole. There were two P proof marks, a very very light cartouche and some other markings I was not able to determine what they were for. The stock had good lock up and no cracks that I could find. Upon shooting the M1 however I found that there was a small piece of wood missing on the left side that allowed the Clip latch pin to vibrate out while shooting. I called the CMP and Mark agreed that if I sent the stock back he would replace it. After much contemplation, as I was happy with the overall condition and markings I decided to return the stock. I sent it priority mail with delivery confirmation, then I waited. After a week I had not received the confirmation that the stock had been delivered. I thought, great the post office has lost my stock. I finally called the CMP to see if it had ever arrived and to my delight they had received the stock and had already sent out the replacement. I guess the post office just does not have the level of service that CMP has. I received the replacement stock yesterday. Overall I was glad to have a stock back, it locks up good and I should be able to shoot my M1 again. I was a little disappointed that it appeared to be off a Greek return as it had some carvings in it and no Proof markings, cartouches or any markings at all. I do appreciate the level of service everyone at the CMP provides. I look forward to my next purchase. Thanks for everything. Gregory S.

Hello, I just received the correct grade HRA M1 Garand I recently ordered.  It's in great shape, just the condition I was hoping for, not overly pristine but with just the right amount of "character marks", as I call them. I want everyone at the CMP to know that your hard work and dedication is appreciated. Thanks. R/ B.T.

August 03, 2005

I would first like to thank you for the wonderful rifles I have purchased through your organization. They are all as described and a source of education and enjoyment. Keep up the good work! Paul J.

August 03, 2005

I learned to shoot, properly, by my old man signing me into a NRA club. We had the old DCM, which was generous with Remington 513T's and plenty of cheap standard velocity ammo. Once we had our Expert rating, we graduated to M-1's. Again the ammo issue was enough for us to obtain our Sharpshooter rating, then the Match ammo came out. This was all in the early to mid '60's. The powder burning in Southeast Asia was firing up and the different military branches really became interested in "junior" shooters. They were more the generous with their advise, coaching, and spare ammo. I finally got my Expert Highpower badge.

In my family, when a war comes around, we enlist. I joined the Marines and low and behold, one of my DI's was a former team shooter from Barstow Marine Base. I don't know if it was good or bad but he remembered me! No breaks and he let me know he expected me to be high platoon shooter and thank God, I was. Thank you DCM. Off to Vietnam as a rifleman. I don't know how much the tax payers spent on making me a good shot, but it paid off in spades. All that practice on getting low to the ground, reloading form ammo pouches (the rule in the old days) in the rapid fire matches, staring at the front sight and squeezing the trigger paid off. I "knew" in my heart of hearts I would never be killed in a shoot out. Seems weird but that's the way I felt. I received a couple hundred "John Kerry" wounds, from bullets coming a part and peppering me, rocks, and tree splinters during many fire fights. Lots of blood, but nothing that could keep me from the field in various fire fights in Northern I Corps. The thing I am most proud of is, I never had a Marine killed while I was their leader. I passes on and stressed marksmanship I learned from the DCM matches to my Marines and took every spare minute making them better shots. In one of my MUC's (Meritorious Unit Citation) my battalion which at the most I ever saw has about 150 Marines, we killed over 3400 NVA in a 60 day period, all in small unit actions. So when I hear DCM and now CMP isn't worth the expenditure, I know they spent less then the $10,000 life insurance money had I been killed, on ranges, targets, rifles, and ammo getting me ready for war. My brothers and I, now civilians have continued to pass the training down to our kids, nephews, and family friends. So far Grenada and the Persian Gulf wars have seen our relatives and friends go to war with the knowledge we passed down to them in the fine art of rifle marksmanship. So far all have been hit, done their jobs, and came home. Thank you the American tax payer, my family for caring enough to get me trained, my coaches, and most of all the DCM/CMP. Swift, Silent, and Friendly . Hacksaw Tom

Greetings, I just received my M1 and am very happy with it. Looks good and shoots just as good. (Reminds me of when I was a kid shooting my Dad's and Uncle's Garands.) Now my son is determined he wants one. Thanks, Richard M.B.

To all the Staff, Thank You! I received my M-1 H&R today. Outstanding rifle, great support, 20 days from when you received my order, the rifle was in my hands. Well worth the wait. I now wonder why I waited so long to take advantage of your program. Thanks again for your professionalism. Drew R.

Excellent reporting of scores as they roll in from Camp Perry and even same day pics. The NRA should take a cue from you people. Hey, maybe a live cam next year??? Once again excellent up to date reporting from Perry. Ken M.
