I can't believe how accurate the rifle shoots out to two hundred yards. I feel like I own a piece of history. Even my son, who is not involved in the shooting sports, thinks it's one of the most beautiful rifles he has ever seen. Thanks again for the wonderfully quick service. Greg C. March 30, 2006I received the call at work this morning and my wife simply said "it's here." I raced home to find an M1 Garand that I will cherish for the rest of my life. When I told my wife that my dad, her dad or uncle could have used this during their service in World War II, she got emotional and said she now understood why I ordered one. I was impressed with your packaging, quick delivery, documentation, and condition of my rifle. The stock shows a lot of history and the receiver and barrel appear to be in excellent shape. I look forward to many trips to the range. You folks run a first class operation and thank you. Bill R. Nashville March 30, 2006Got number five. Thank you all for the huge effort you put forth. And putting up with our repeated inquiries. You're special to all of us. Thanks again. Terry B. March 30, 2006CMP Greek AMMO is SUPER!! Thanks, CMP, for again offering the best .30-06 ammo for the money on the market. Many complimentary words appear about the fine rifles coming out of CMP. The ammo is great, too. I bought the HXP, packed tactical...8rd clips and bandoleers...in sealed spam cans, 4 cans to the solid wooden case. Not one blemished cartridge so far. Not one misfire. Grouping well at 100 yds. out of my match Garand. I'll be buying more before it, too, becomes a legend. Thanks, J. Wayne H . Harrisburg, PA March 27, 2006I just received my Field Grade M1 Garands and they are in excellent condition and are in great shape inside and out. I just cant thank you all enough for the services you all provide us in keeping the shooting sport and these legendary US battle rifles available to the shooter and collector. The CMP staff are second too none and deserve a great thanks for all the hard work it is keeping these great pieces of history available too us. Thanks again, Charles B. March 24, 2006Just wanted to say "Thanks guys". I had always wanted an M1903 and finally ordered one from you. Picked it up at FedEx last night, raced home and opened the box. I was not disappointed. An excellent looking rifle. I look forward to a day spent cleaning the rifle and getting it ready for the range. Jim P . Fayetteville March 23, 2006Subject: FYI - pink Greek wax on some CMP guns And nothing will cut this stuff, not acetone, not kerosene, nothing! Because the gun was so minty, I didn't want to risk damaging it, so I painstakingly scrapped the waxy pink goo off the metal with toothpicks! (yeah, it took a bunch!) When I got it down to just bare metal, I used Acetone and rags. Several applications were required, because the first few applications would just smear the wax around and after contact with the acetone, it would become very milky-looking and it made a mess. Throughout this process, I tried to remain positive - despite my grumbling and cursing - reminding myself that this stuff probably preserved the metal from scratches, wear, and "age patina" by the fact that it was so thick and seemingly impervious to anything. This minty $1400 collector-grade gun is as close to a "new in the box" $12,000 auction gun as I'm gonna get. Got everything cleaned up after a few days of "elbow grease" and had only one part left - the long op-rod spring...Which was completely encased in this pink wax. My toothpicks, acetone and rags procedure wasn't going to work. Thankfully, my wife produced a craft "Milwaukee Heat Gun" that she had. This is a heavy-duty "hair dryer," capable of 750 and 1000 degrees F, with 1200 watts and 4100 BTU's. It can be used to loosen lug nuts, thaw frozen pipes, etc. So, I turned this thing on the op-rod spring, and the pink stuff ran off like water! I couldn't believe how easy it was! So....the next time someone gets one of these "pink" guns, or asks the question on Culver's shooting page....tell them to do a search on Milwaukee Heat Gun, made by MHT Products of New Berlin, WI. Make a very tough job very easy, and you won't get (further) brain-damaged as I did with the acetone!...MB March 22, 2006I just received my second M-1 Garand, the last one in 1997. As always, I got your fast and efficient service. From sending in the forms to receiving my rifle, 20 working days! And I’m from Hawaii! That’s got to be a record! Thanks again for everything. Satisfied Customer, Danny K. March 22, 2006My father was a veteran in both WWII and Korea and I wanted the opportunity to purchase a M1 grand or a M1 carbine in memory of him. Your program seems to be my opportunity to do that. Robert A. March 23, 2006Got my Greek issue field grade rifle Tuesday. I could not be more pleased. I will be ordering from you again. Thanks for making it possible for people to get a nice gun at a very fair price. Tom S. Clarksville TN., March 20, 2006I received my beautiful receiver via FedEx today and just wanted to let y'all know how much I appreciate what you've done. My thanks to all concerned. Please pass my thanks to all hands. I know a lot of good hands touched my order and I am very grateful. Charlie. FL March 20, 2006Got my Plainfield carbine barreled receiver. When I looked down the barrel I thought they aren't kidding about "consider all barrels bad". However after some Silikroil and a good brushing, I actually could see some rifling! I like a challenge, so after half a tube of Flitz, half a can of Kano Silikroil, a pile of patches, some steel wool, a half gallon of wine, (the wine was for me) and last but not least, a whole can of Hog Wash it is now "good". No bench rest shooter is going to mug me for the barrel but all in all it's not to shabby. Looks like someone greased the bore when it was dirty and stored it in a basement for 40 years or so. Any way, I am well on my way to a good "shooter". Bead blasting and a Parkerizing job will go a long way towards making this little guy presentable. Do you have any idea how or why the Army came into possession of Plainfield and Universal receivers, seems like they would have had more than enough M-1 carbines seeing that over 6,000,000 were made. This was the best $50 I've ever spent. Thanks for the e-mail notification. Charlie B. Diamond, IL March 19, 2006just wanted to thank you for making it possible for me to own a functioning piece of history-my M1 Garand- I feel honored to own this fine weapon and I am very pleased with my experience buying this from you- thanks again and keep up the great work you do. Thank you again. Gordon R. Longwood, FL March 09, 2006Attn: Ms Nina Michaels March 08, 2006Hello, I want to thank you for the friendly, professional service and delivery of my Garand, which arrived on Feb.28th. March 07, 2006I am currently deployed to the middle east and placed an order for 2 Garands and an m1903 .My wife was kind enough to send me a video of her and my son opening the packaging and inspecting the rifle. I must say what I can see through the cosmoline its a beautifully charactered rifle and I am pleased and just wanted to say thank you and I look forward to the same with the Garands . thank you . TSgt TLM March 07, 2006Hi, I just wanted to thank everyone again for all their help. Part of the my order shipped out almost immediately. They were packed well, and arrived in good shape. Your system seems to work wonderfully, especially with the account log in to see the status of an order. With the amount of traffic you must process, your level of service is great! Many customers are quick to write when something is wrong, but fail to write when something is good. I just wanted to let you know I am a very satisfied customer and please pass on my thanks. Maureen r. March 07, 2006I just picked up my Springfield M1 Field Grade (Greek) rifle at Fed-X and I could not be more pleased. Most of the finish on the metal remains, and the wood (all walnut) is in good shape. My thanks to the folks at CMP: you do a great job. Charles. March 07, 2006I just received my rack grade order, and I am very pleased, both with the condition of the rifle and the quick and efficient service. Thank You. John F. I'm going to buy a lotto ticket with this kind of luck, especially since I got 1 of 16 Rock-Ola's WOW!!! This order really made my day, weekend, month and years to come, I was late on the collecting of M1 Carbines of WW2 (only have one) this will make it happen! Hope they all come with barrels bad or not as wanted the WW2 dated barrels to keep even if there bad. Once again "Thanks So Much!" Regards, David F .
