January 28, 2006

Just wanted to take a minute as a first-time customer to express my appreciation for the service I received from your company. The operating spring of my Greek Field Grade was broken when I received it; probably three coils broken off right up where it goes over the follower rod. Could easily have escaped detection, and indeed it did escape my initial inspection. I called and asked for a new spring, and a new one was sent right to me; no questions asked. Thank you very much!

Incidentally, regarding this rifle, it came with perhaps the ugliest stock I've ever seen on a rifle; dinged, scarred, and covered with cosmoline. However the rifle itself is in great shape, and the stock is solid. It's looks have even improved a good bit with some work. At any rate, I'm not too worried about the looks of this rifle as it's going to see some hard use in some rough country with me.

Ugly stock and all, this Garand is a superb shooter, which is just what I wanted. My best 100 yard 3-shot group so far was 1 1/8", and the worst has been 2 3/4". I'm VERY pleased with this rifle, and it will be my companion on many backcountry adventures here in Wyoming in the years to come.

And yes, I'll be ordering another Garand here very soon! Jonathan W.

I recently bought a M1 Garand off of auction arms.com which was at some point bought from you (I have the CMP certificate). I recently took my rifle out to a range and with out any modifications to the sights, managed to make very tight groupings on a 100yd precision sighting in target placed at 15 yards away. I am not a ... professional shooter or really big into competition shooting but I manages to shoot the centers out of all 5 targets
with my rifle. I simply wanted to share my experience with you and thank
you for providing such excellent weapons. Sincerely yours. Don P.

Before Christmas, I received two of your "collector grade" M-1 Garand rifles, (1) H & R and (1) SA. I was amazed at what I received! The quality was outstanding, and the service was first rate (as always). Thanks to the CMP staff. Sincerely, John G.

Thanks for the professional help and the time your staff took to accommodate my request. Even when I wanted to change my request in mid stream, you took the time to make suggestions. Thanks for requested WW2 receiver on my Garand and the prompt processing of my order. Vern F

I just got my Garand from you and man it shoots good as all get out.  Off the bench at a 100 yards I shot a .406 group.  Then I grouped m.o.a. groups out to 700 yards with the lake city ball ammo. The match is next weekend and I hope to beat the old gunnie at 100 yard off hand. Thanks again you all made my year. Todd W .

I purchased a Garand from you back in November 05 and I am very pleased.
This was my first purchase from you so I had some questions, the staff on the phone was always very friendly. I got what I was hoping for, a World War II era rifle. I received a rack grade rifle that is in great shape with a 2,1XX,XXX receiver and a 7-44 barrel. CMP is a great organization, keep up the great work. Jim, Lincolnton, NC

To all the folks at CMP: I just picked up my 1903 Springfield at Fed-X last night (it was a blizzard but worth the trip). The rifle was very well packed. The barrel, receiver, and bolt look to be in great shape with most of the finish remaining. Lots of cosmoline, but that's the way I like to see them. The scant stock is a bit beat up and oil soaked, but should clean up to a serviceable condition. I look forward to cleaning this rifle up and taking it to the range. Thank you all for the speedy service, and for your part in maintaining these historic firearms. You have a great program. Charles B .

Rcvd the M1 this evening. I am very pleased with its overall condition. A quick and dirty check for muzzle wear shows it to be in great shape. A good cleaning comes tomorrow and a trip to the gun smith for a check there after.
Keep up the good work. Tim H. CWO3 (Comms) USCG (Ret.)

Dear CMP staff,

I want to thank you for what has become a very interesting opportunity to purchase American service rifles at a reasonable cost. My collector grade M1 appears virtually brand new except for an unusually-dinged stock. In the case of the stock, cleaning, steaming, and an application of two coats of tung oil revealed a surprisingly beautiful grain. As for the hardware, although I haven't checked the muzzle wear, the rifle shoots as accurately as my glass bedded M1.

The greatest surprise, however, has come in the form of my high-serial number M1903s.
My first, once cleaned, turned out to be the typical rebuilt rifle sporting a bright, crisply-rifled 1942 barrel. But it shot so well (and has finger grooves like the one my Dad used in his match shooting in the late '20s and early 30's) that I thought it might be wise to save it. Thinking it was a fluke, I ordered another to use as a "shooter" on my farm, expecting that the new one would not be as nice. To my amazement, the newer one, although restocked at Remington during the War (FJA cartouche and a second proof firing stamp), has a matched 1928 barrel and receiver. My local gunsmith checked the barrel for me and said "This rifle hasn't has a hundred rounds fired through it!" Well, in the last couple of weeks, I've put another hundred through this "tack driver." So now what do I do? The answer is that you will likely be receiving another order(s) from me in the future because the anticipation of wondering what lies in the box is almost as much fun as shooting it. Thank you again, K. Bruce Koligian (Fresno, California)

I think the CMP is the best , If you want to learn about the m1, or any other surplus firearm this is definitely the place. The staff at the north store I can't say enough about them. Plus the customer service is great. I'm on the web site every day, keep up the good work CMP we need more programs like yours. Joseph L.

Once again I wish to tell you how pleased I was with my latest order. The Garand (Danish return) was very nice and without the aid of a TE gage it would be difficult to tell it from a service grade piece. The M1903 Mk1 is absolutely museum quality. I did not think you could have sent as nice an example as my first Mk1, but you surpassed my highest expectation. The rifle is truly a piece of history. SLP

My 2 rack grades arrived today. Super fast shipment. Less than 2 weeks...unbelievable. Both rifles exceeded my expectation. I can't wait to clean them and shoot them, but at a glance I am very very pleased. As always you do a wonderful job. Thanks! Tim C.

Dear all, I want to express my sincere thanks for all of your work in finding the 1944 M1 Garand for my father. Only the smile on his face when he received the rifle could truly express our gratitude. We are very grateful for all who were instrumental in helping me in the his matter. It is a beautiful rifle. In my dad's words with the rifle in his hands "this brings back so many memories". He is a proud American who loves this country more than anything... Thank you, John A. Chicago, IL.
