Follow up:  Just received the TE gauge I ordered from you folks (which by the way is the best price on one of these I have found), and I immediately checked the Garand I received a couple of weeks ago.  At the time I received this rifle, I noted that the muzzle was pristine, and the rifle overall was excellent.  Imagine my delight when upon checking the throat erosion I found it to be less than 2!.  It is probably more like a 1.5.  This barrel is either new, or hasn't had many rounds fired through it.  I have a muzzle wear gauge on the way, and I would be surprised to find much wear at that end either.  What a deal!  Thanks again.      Steve L.  Portland, OR

Hello,  I recently ordered and received my third rifle from CMP – a second Inland Carbine – in August.  I’ve been teaching a lot of first-time shooters this summer, from kids to nurses at a local hospital.  The M1 Carbine is a great gun for them when they want to step up from a .22, so I requested a shooter with a good barrel.  The rifle I received had a nice barrel with symmetrical muzzle wear of 2.  As a bonus, the entire carbine was in good shape!  So, I just wanted to say thanks for sending me a quality firearm and to let you know that because of it, I plan to head to the North Store next week to try to pick up a couple more Inlands so the kids I’m teaching can all shoot at the same time J Thanks again!!  Dave B .

You guys have really done it this time. I just received my SAS M-1 Garand and it is gorgeous! Great metal finish, tight fitting parts, tight clean bore and all matching wood, albeit needs cleaned, with few minor occlusions. If I didn't want another carbine so much, I'd order another Garand; but baby makes three.  You guys are doing a great job and I appreciate all of you, your service, and your help and cooperation. Dang, I can hardly wait for my carbine, now.  Respectfully,  Dave USMC Ret

I would like to say WWWWOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!!!  I just received my M1 Garand Service Grade rifle last night, and about fell out of my chair.  This rifle is a Korean War and Later Production 2 rifle that was pristine to say the least.  The rifle had 98% of its original finsh, all parts were correct for this timeframe, and the stock was walnut, all the same color, only had a few minor handling/storage marks and had the original cartouche and P proof mark .  I would have to say that this rifle was in more of the correct grade/collector grade condition.  This will make a great addition to my recent Inland M1 Carbine I received a few months back.  I can not thank the CMP South enough for this beautiful firearm.  Being a retired Marine, you just don't know how much I appreciate everything the CMP does!!!!  Semper Fi and keep up the good work.  See you at the range, OHHHHH RAHHHHH!!!!!    Steve L., NC

I would just like to say how excited I was when I opened the shipping box my M1 Garand came in. You see, I am a Marine from the Korean War era and the M1 I received was manufactured just 2 months before my enlistment date, WOW. Can you image how special that is to me and the memories it brought back. And I could not hardly believe my eyes when I seen the condition the rifle was in, another WOW. Thank you CMP, you have put a smile on this old Marines face that will last for quite some time. I have several M1’s but this one is very special, thank you again.  Wayne B .

I just received one of the newly available service grade M1 Garands and am extremely pleased with the condition of this five digit serial number rifle.  When comparing to my previous purchase of a field grade “Greek” M1 it appears at least twice as nice.  Thanks for the great service of the CMP and I hope many others have a chance to own one of the finest rifles ever made.  Regards,  Rod F .

I just want to thank you for allowing the Camp Perry Mail purchase of my CMP Garand rifle. The Quality was great. My son and I had a blast at the range, my wife and daughter now wants to go shooting. I am going to need to purchase another one, soon. How much trouble did I get myself into ??? I hope I did not get garandinitus LOL... There are CMP forum member that has dozens of Garand, that is simply nuts..Why ? so many ? I need to prepare for the Garand Match, After reading CMP book, I did not realize how challenging it would be, The Hope of placing is gone, but I can see lots of fun in the process... a guaranteed winner in my book. Hi, Just thought I'd let you know how thrilled I am with the service grade M1 Garand I received from the CMP this week! I had stuck a post-it on my order form asking for a "good shooter" if possible, but what I found in the box was way, way more than I expected. Overall, the rifle appears almost new- only the op rod, bolt, and gas cylinder have any significant wear. The barrel and receiver appear unissued - even the wood looked aged but new, once I rubbed the cosmo and grime off - and it has a clear late-period stock cartouche and proof mark to boot. I was really looking forward to getting my first Garand, but this one is such a beautiful rifle, I can still hardly believe it. Not only that, but it was delivered less than two weeks after you received my order! Thanks again for all the great work the CMP is doing by connecting these historic rifles with owners that will treasure and care for them. Best regards, M. P. B.

Christmas came early on August 21st, when I received not one, but two CMP rifles via Fed Ex overnight.  My first ever CMP rifle order consisting of an M1 Garand, and an M1 Carbine.  I immediately noted the excellent packing job.  Upon inspection of the rifles, I couldn't have been more pleased.  They were beauties.  OK, so the stocks were well worn, but the metal finish on each was better than expected.  Muzzles were in great condition, in fact the Garand had either been re-crowned, or was just plain in good shape to start with.  Can't wait to shoot both.  Now, the service from you CMP folks could not be any better.  I got my order in promptly when the sales were announced, and the time between my order placement, and when the rifles arrived was about two weeks.  Same experience when I placed my Garand ammo order previously.  Customer service of this caliber does not exist much any more.  Rifles to your door, is this a great country or what!  I will be a repeat customer.  Thanks  again.     Steve L.  Portland, Oregon

Just received my M1 Garand.  I wasn't expecting to see it until October.  It is really nice and  I must say I am very pleased.  Much better then I expected for a service grade rifle.  I have not fired an M1 since I was in Navy boot camp in 1960.  Can't wait to get to the range.  Thanks, Gary H. in Georgia

Hello CMP! Just wanted to send a note to express my appreciation for your speedy service.  I was waiting for the September offerings of M1 Carbines when you reopened the Inland orders.  I sent my paperwork by snail mail and when the Aug 16th notice of second sell-out was posted thought I may have missed this one.  However on the 18th CMP sent email confirmation of receipt and email with shipping info was sent on the evening of 21st.    Wednesday morning,  the 22nd, the package with my carbine arrived at 8:34 am CST.  After opening the package and checking out the rifle I then checked email and found notice of shipment with tracking number. Just for grins I checked the FedEx routing number and saw that the carbine left Alabama at 11:34 pm on the 21st and was delivered here the next morning at 8:34 am.  The serial number puts receiver as a June 1944 carbine with a October 1943 barrel.  This will be a excellent partner to the May 1945 M1 Garand service grade that I purchased from you last year.  Both firearms are in excellent condition and only need a little cleaning of stocks to be in top-notch condition.  Thank you so much for being here to let us experience the weapons our WWII veterans carried.  I now have a greater appreciation for anyone who carried the Garand through a jungle.  Tom P .

Hello!  We ordered a Kimber 22 Target Rifle and are very happy with the service we received through each stage of your organization, and the rifle itself.  All the e-mails we sent requesting information or status were responded to quickly.  The rifle itself is excellent and shoots tight groups.  Wayne and Ying from Maryland.

Dear CMP, On August 10, 2007 I noted your announcement that several hundred Inland Carbines would be available for sale and some by mail order. I sent in my application by overnight mail and was told by the post office that it could not be received sooner than the 12th. I thought for sure I would be out of luck. Low and behold the FEDEX man left a note that I missed a package delivery on the 17th. He came again yesterday and to my surprise it was a box from CMP. I opened it like a kid at Christmas and found a beautiful M1 Carbine It looked like it just came out of the factory. All the metal is nicely parkerized no scratches or bare metal. The wood is excellent except of an Italian FAT cartouche. I will not do a thing to it except shoot it at next years Nationals. Thanks, for excellent service and this great piece of history. Very respectfully, Stan G.

Dear Sirs;    Just wanted to sing the praises of one of your employees, M. Smith, who recently helped me to identify and correct a mistake I had made on a credit card order for books on your internet sight.  I had incorrectly typed in my expiration date - DUH!!  Ms. Smith promptly contacted me and helped to readily figure out and fix the problem.  I am very hesitant to order anything on line but this experience has eased my fears, at least in ordering from the CMP.  Thanks again Ms. Smith..Robert B., Chatham, IL

Hi. Just received my Indland M1 Carbine and WOW, am I happy. Very fast delivery! This M1 in the condition it is in would sell for almost twice as what I paid for it.( No, I am NOT selling it!) The stock is original M2 and all am going to do his fix a small crack and refinish it.  Barrel at muzzle is 1/12 on gauge! Please pass this along. Mark S .

Hello Shannon,  I wanted to thank you and everyone at the CMP for a VERY enjoyable experience at the Garand Match. It was my first trip to Camp Perry and it was great from beginning to end. Every CMP person that I came into contact with was cordial and helpful. We were scheduled to fire in the afternoon on the Rodriguez range but when we got out there we were told that we were to shoot on Viale. They could have easily told us that we’d better get moving if we were going to make it but instead the young man got a golf cart and drove us over there. What service! I commend all of you for running a smooth operation. With the number of events and shooters it would be easy for it to unravel. I’m sure that, with a only a few exceptions that everyone had a good time. I’ll certainly be back next year.  Thanks you also for taking care of my daughter’s cancellation. I was surprised to have a message on my answering machine last week from the CMP advising that it had been processed and I should get a refund. Again, great personal service. Thank you thank you. I went to the event photos yesterday and saw pictures from the other events but non for the JCG match. There seems to be a place holder there but no link to any photos. Will there be any soon? The gentleman that I was squatted with was in full WWII gear and we were wondering if he made it into the pictures.  Thank you again for a wonderful experience and I’ll definitely be there next year. Sincerely,  Morris “Chip” S .

I purchased an M-1 Carbine from you in June  2007. I liked the Carbine so much I am ordering an M-1 Garand. Keep up the great work.  Anthony A .

Aloha,  I would like to take this opportunity to let you folk’s know how pleased I am with both the products you sell, and the fantastic customer service your staff provides. I have now purchased three M1 Garands, two 1903 Springfields, and one M1 carbine from the CMP. Your surplus arms are a great value for the price, and the funds go to a great cause. On only one occasion did I ever encounter a problem with a rifle I received, and your staff quickly corrected the situation.  Please keep up the great work!   Stephen K . Honolulu , Hawaii

Oh great!!!!  The 3 receivers I received ran the gamut of a 6 digit pre war, a late 44, to a post war 1955 time line.  I just figured I'd get the usual quality product and was so surprised to find what I was too ignorant to request for what was sent ,   was exactly what I wanted.  Thanks, and you're welcome to post this on the CMP site.  Bill  M.

August 10, 2007

So far, I have purchased from CMP, one each of:  M1903, M1903A3, M 1917, M1 Garand, and most recently an M1 Carbine.  The stock was trashed on the 03 and CMP exchanged it.  The Price had increased on the Garand after I sent in an order and CMP honored the older price.  The personnel in the North Store were very helpful when I visited it.  What else can one say, CMP has their act together.  Bill M.

August 10, 2007

Thank you for your prompt service.  I received the Greek .30-06 ammunition last week and have shot five 8-round clips.  I experienced no problems with this ammunition.   The 192 round bandoleer cans are great for those that need clips and bandoleers.  Elliott R.

Even though I messed up my order the very good folks at Customer Service saved the day and my wonderful Carbine came to me yesterday.  MS. NINA ROCKS!!!!  Many thanks,  Bob D .

I am almost speechless, All I can say is “ Awesome “ Thank you so much for the opportunity to own a piece of history. An M1 Carbine, I can’t wait to clean it up and shoot it!      John in Cali.

I received my Inland M1 Carbine a week ago today and found that it is in great shape. A couple of days later at the range I tried to dampen my enthusiasm and remember that the rifle was built in 1943. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised when I started shooting consistantly in the 10 ring at 100 yards. Last but not least I would like to thank the customer service folks at CMP who handled my questions quickly and ensured that my order was processed in a timely manner. Thanks again CMP!Very Respectfully, Erin W.

I just open the box on my Inland M1 and once again you have come through with flying colors!!!  Thank you for your attention to detail and customer service.   J.C.

I received my M1 Inland Carbine today.  Your appraisal of these weapons is fair, in fact the one I received is in better condition than I expected.  The bore is bright, shiny, and lands are very good.  It's great that these WW II babies are finding their way back home. I appreciate the opportunity to have a nice offering without import marks.

August 2, 2007

Dear CMP,   I am in Afghanistan with the Army and I ordered an M-1 Carbine, I know it arrived at my home and next year 2008 I will get a chance to look at it.  It was with great pleasure that I read the comments of others that have received their M-1's.  Thank you for doing the jobs that you do, it is very much appreciated.  Sincerely,   Donald E.  F .54

I have received my M-1 carbine.  It appears to be in fine shape considering that it is two years older than I and has apparently been well-used.  I was particularly impressed by your thoroughness in processing applications.  I did not expect to receive a carbine as the day I sent in my packet, the website said the carbines were sold out.  I received a note a few weeks later requesting further information on my affiliated club membership, which I FAX'd immediately.  Apparently there were quite a few incomplete applications as my carbine arrived six weeks thereafter.  My thanks for your thorough consideration.  I have previously purchased an M-1 Garand and a 1903 Springfield.  Both rifles were most satisfactory and I have had many satisfying hours firing them.  If you ever get M-14s in, you can expect my application to be among the first of the avalanche.  Bill C .

I want to thank CMP for having some M1 Garands for sale at the Nationals At Camp Perry. I stopped in and picked up a nice Service Grade Garand. I checked the muzzle and it checked out less than 1 in wear. The throat erosion gauge showed a hair over 3. I know this will shoot well. Stock needs some minor cleaning but otherwise, thank you for an excellent piece of history. Very respectfully, Stan G.
