Dear Nina, Back
in September I sent in an order for an .30, M1. It did not get posted until
the end of October, and I did not receive it until the 28 Dec 2007. It was
well worth the wait. While I checked the order every couple of days I did not
call because I know from reading the forum that you get enough calls. It
was well worth the wait, it arrived this morning and I have cleaned and
inspected it. Come rain sleet or snow tomorrow I will take it to the range and
give it a workout. This is my third M1 and it is better than the ones I hand
picked. I received it clean well oiled the only thing left to check is the
bore. You people do a great job and anyone that complains about your service
is not looking at value received. Richard

Let me say first that everyone I have dealt with or spoken to at Anniston is
just super! It's like calling an old friend. You treat me like a member
of the family, are patient, polite and as nice as can be! It was a bit
of a trick getting the M1 out of FEDEX as they were overwhelmed in those last
few days before Christmas. I ended up driving 25 miles to pick it up at the
depot that night, but I'm glad I did. When I first unpacked it, I could
see that the stock showed some signs of it's 52 year age, (not unexpected) but
as I continued to examine the rifle, I was overwhelmed at the superb condition
of this "Correct Grade" Springfield M1. It is absolutely
amazing. I dare say it is in virtually unfired condition and original in every
respect. I have been shooting M1's (in competition and for my own enjoyment)
for over 40 years. This is the best one. I sure hope the H&R I am waiting
for is as nice! Again, you folks
are doing a great job and I thank you for this wonderful rifle. Keep up the
good work! Happy New Year,

December 26, 2007After being deployed for 18months, I was heading back home to KY I made sure my trip tic brought me thru Camp Perry. I stopped in with all my paper work and walked out with a M1 that shoots like a champ. Thanks again SSG Gerald. D. December 25, 2007I just received my order of (1) Garand, M-1 H&R and it is a very nice piece. I am very pleased..You folks do a great job, please keep up the great service.. I am now inclined to order (1) M-1 Carbine... These fine collectables are nice additions to my WWII collection and also great to shoot at the local shooting club. Thanks again... Scal December 25, 2007During the initial release of M1 Carbines, I ordered 1 Undie SG, 1 Inland SG, 1 Undie Rack, and 1 Inland Rack ... all received in record time without a glitch!! OUTSTANDING SERVICE!! Over the past couple years I have purchased 10 M1 Garands, 4 M1 Carbines, 1 1903 Springfield, 1 1917 Winchester, and several thousand rounds of ammunition. Each and every transaction has been handled with complete competence from the CMP Staff -- I wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Dear CMP, I
ordered a service grade H&R less that 30 days ago and it arrived on my
door step today. I can't thank you enough for the service and quality of
my Garand. For a service grade the MW and TE were both a 1. The
wood has some dings but steaming them out should be no problem. All I
can say is Santa and his elves must work for CMP.
Thanks again,

December 21, 2007Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You all in customer service continue to live up to your reputation, which is EXCELLENT. Sam B. December 20, 2007I got the rifle today and I can not tell you how happy I am not only with the

folks there at the CMP. You got a customer here forever and I will return
for additional purchases. OUTSTANDING!

FedEx showed up right on time today and delivered my 7.62 Mann Accuracy
Device. It's quite a piece of machinery and really in good shape. I don't
believe it has ever been shot. The time line on this one was really
outstanding, I mailed the order on 11-28, you showed it received on 12-01,
began processing on 12-11 and here it is 12-20 and it's delivered. That's just
shy of three weeks since you received my order. It's amazing how you can come
through like this with all the orders you're dealing with right now. Thank
you all at CMP, keep up the great work.

Gentlemen: I
recently ordered and received a Service Grade M1 Garand, Springfield Armory ,
S/N 5873461. Concerning this rifle I would like to make two comments:
First, it seems you shipped me the wrong grade, and Second, NO, you can't have
it back. After
detail stripping the rifle I found that it appears virtually unfired. All
metal has a minimum of 95% original finish. There is no rust or
pitting anywhere. The bore is without blemish. although the barrel crown shows
a small amount of finish loss. The stock appears to be walnut,
is sound with no cracks but some minor dings. After giving the stock a
good cleaning (no sanding) to remove the old oil buildup and refinishing it
with tung oil (which I believe is correct for the year of manufacture
(1955) ), I now have an M1 in almost 'as issued' condition.
Actually, the rifle is in better condition than the one I
carried in the '50s while serving in the Army.
Many thanks; lots of nostalgia here.

CMP done a great job getting my ammo shipped. I have seen on many forums that
it takes a couple weeks to get their orders. Well my first order ever was made
on Dec 6th 07 and to my surprise I got it delivered on Dec 8th 07. With
service like this why would one want to go else where to order ammo. Thanks
for a job well done CMP. Thanks

Dear CMP staff, I
recently placed an order for 5 carbine magazines, not really expecting much.
Boy was I plesently surprised at the quality of those mags. Two were
fairly rare IBM's and one was a harder tofind Winchester.
Thanks very much,
Dave O
December 13, 2007Always a great surprise package upon arrival. Really good condition magazines. D. L. S. December 12, 2007Sir. Last September I drove to Oxford and purchased a rack grade M1 and a supply of ammo from you're South Store. Everyone was very customer orented and a pleasure to deal with. I had planned on re-barreling the rifle but when I went to the range at 25 yards it shot tight 5 shot clusters all touching each other. At 100 yards it shot into 2-1/2 inches on most 3 shot groups. I came back and just staired at the rifle laying on the matt and apologized to it for thinking that it would not shoot. I had miss judged that old rifle. Al. S . December 11, 2007Hi Folks, I received my order of 15 round carbine magazines and wanted to let you know how satisfied I am with all ten. There is a good variety of manufacturers in the bunch, including a rust pitted old guy made by Winchester; to were still in oil paper wraps. Overall they have nice finish, good followers, and strong springs and each functioned well at the range. CMP has provided a very good deal on these mags. Thanks. Dave USMC WA December 10, 2007After shooting my Service Grade M1 Garand for several months I am extremely pleased as it both looks and shoots great! I am a retired USAF officer and have often thought about purchasing an M1 while on active duty, but never did. I am happy I finally placed the order and secured a piece of history! My 18 year old son is also interested in historic military firearms and the M1 is a good compliment to his authentic 8mm German Mauser. We were at the range recently and did a side-by-side shooting comparison. It was quite obvious how the M1 helped us to achieve victory in battle. When compared to the Mauser the M1 has a better trigger, quicker pointing sights, and of course more available firepower. We have put our modern scoped rifles away this fall and are using these two historic firearms for deer hunting. No luck yet, but the season is not over! Thank you for your program and the opportunity to purchase these outstanding firearms! Ed “Edmo” M . December 10, 2007
Thanks again! Last year I purchased a very nice Garand and now received
one of your "Service Grade" M-1 Carbines (an Underwood). Your
service and feedback and the quality and condition of both the rifle and
carbine were just plain excellent.

I rec'd my 3rd CMP rifle, HRA SG, Fri., 7 Dec. Like the 03A3 and the
Danish rack grade M1 previously it exceeded my expectations in quality.
I read the comment from the person complaining about "overpriced
junk" from CMP. If you want to see some overpriced junk, check out
some of the gun shows. I am quite pleased with the service and quality
of rifles from CMP. I will be ordering another. Thanks, Y'all.

"My" Garand arrived today!
It's a Service Grade and a late serial number just as I was hoping
for, since I drilled with Korean War-era M1's in high school ROTC.
I can't wait to shoot her - just as soon as I get her all cleaned up.
I was born at the end of WWII and to own this important
piece of our Nation's military history is quite an honor. I would like
to thank everyone associated with the CMP for making this opportunity
available to folks who appreciate such things.

Well I'm may be a little late in writing, but here it is . This pass
Jan. my son was home from the Marines and we made a trip to the CMP store here
in Alabama. It was our first time there and I was overtaken by all the weapons
on hand. After looking around we found a good looking Rack grade that we liked
{yes I said Rack grade} After we made it back home I had a friend of
mine that owns a number of them and shoots in macthes go over the rifle. After
a good cleaning we went to his range and zerod it in. I also have a 1942 jeep
that I take to shows and the Garand is part of the display . CMP keep
up the GOOD WORK. Dennis L .

Received my stock set today, just shy of a month since I mailed the order. The
time lag was nothing short of outstanding considering the volume of orders you
must be dealing with right now. I probably won't have a chance to
fit it for a week or two but it looks good, nicely figured straight grain on
all three pieces. Thank you again for coming through with a #1 product. I'm
sure when I'm finished it will really dress up my Service Grade Dane
Garand (SA Nov 43 with a 3-66 Dane barrel).
Thank you again for the outstanding service,
Ed L.
December 4, 2007Dear CMP Staff, I am writing you to tell you that I just received my Correct Grade Springfield Armory M1 Garand Rifle. I couldn't be more pleased. I am a FT police officer and a 16 year Veteran of the Army National Guard and a firearms instructor. I have been collecting firearms and teaching for over ten years now. I want to say that I felt that through every step of the way my contact with your staff was extremely professional and pleasant. The rifle itself was absolutely beautiful and exceeded my expectations. I want to thank-you all for the service that you are doing for this wonderful country by allowing lawful citizens, police officers and veterans to purchase these rifles at reasonable prices and promote the shooting sport. I wish the best to all of you to have a safe and happy Christmas and God Bless to you all. SSG Robert W. R. NH December 3, 2007
Hi, I

I could't be more pleased. It came right on time and
I took it out the range and was blown away by how it shot.

Hi Folks, It is so disheartening sometimes to read feedback from the
"disappointed " buyers of CMP weapons. Apparently some people don't
quite get the picture and feel that a 66 years old carbine should be in a
spotless like-new condition. It's the history of the "junk" from CMP
that counts. Consider this; these carbines are up to 66 years old, they have
been through three major wars (WW II, Korea, Vietnam) not to mention many
smaller skirmishes; they have been participants in various lend-lease programs
to foreign nations for nearly 40 years and have been held by thousands of
abusive hands. Now they are finally coming back home after some serious abuse
and some people call them "junk". I've received some of this CMP
"junk" and have been pleased with it all. Sure,I may have had to
scrub down an oil caked stock and refinish it, and break the parts down to
clean them up but when I loaded that old-timer with a full magazine at the
range, it performed just like it was meant to. So to those who call the CMP
and their weapons "junk"; go to your local gun shop and buy a
new one that has no class nor history of which to boast; but don't call these
CMP weapons "junk" simply because you're too lazy to apply some
effort to clean them up. In my experience, the folks at CMP will try their
best to satisfy you, the customer. Keep in mind; it's the history.
Dave USMC WA
December 3, 2007I recently made the trip from LA. to the the south store and picked up 2 Garands and 2 carbines.Got home and cleaned them up.My buddies were all ogling them and saying why didn't I tell them, etc.Of course I had, but you know how people are.Any way it looks like you'll have a bunch of new customers coming to see you.I told them all you could save a few more $$$ by just letting them ship it to you,but they all want to come and pick out their own rifles. The staff at the store were friendly, thorough, and more then willing to help out in any way they could. I will be back to buy again. Ken H. December 2, 2007The CMP still works! When the DCM was started in 1903, the whole idea was to train civilians in rifle marksmanship, to get them prepared for possible military service. It occurred to me the other day that they still do that, because I was one of those civilians. (was) I started shooting an M1 in the Garand matches in 2003. After a while, I joined the NC junior highpower team and, with funds from the CMP and donations from sierra, I was able to go to Camp Perry in '05 and '06. In 2006, I legged out and earned the distinguished rifleman's badge. (#1800) In 2006, when I was 17, I joined the Army NG. I was picked up on the National Guard rifle team within 22 days of enlisting, and am on my state's rifle and pistol teams. When I went to basic, my Drill Sergeants figured out pretty quick that I knew my way around an M16. They basically put me in charge of our platoon's BRM program, and I did most of the coaching and working with my "battle buddys" (I hate that term, it sounds so stupid) to help them qualify. Our platoon had the most experts and sharpshooters in the company. The whole point of this rant is that, the CMP is still a very valid tool for teaching marksmanship. Without the help of a dedicated father, (Who always got up early, and loaded ammo, and drove me to exotic places like Ohio, and put up with me bitching & being ungrateful sometimes, thanks Dad.) veteran shooters who helped at the range, and money, matches, and clinics from the CMP, I wouldn't be the rifleman that I am today. The CMP did it's job; They took a civilian, helped him become very proficient in the use of a rifle, and when he joined the army, he helped others become as such. I believe that's called a force multiplier. I say HOOAH to the CMP, still helping us win wars after almost 105 years. That's just my little story, anybody else? John B. 45B Small Arms Repairman December 2, 2007I apologize for the length of this but, that’s how I am --- and I should have sent smaller ones every time you folks put a smile on my face instead of waiting ‘till now to cover everything… I’d like to thank all of the people of the CMP for the fine job they do with anything I’ve been involved in --- especially those up at Camp Perry, about 35 minutes from my back door. In the past 2 years I bought 2 M1 Garands and have had phenomenal luck --- especially for someone who didn’t know what he was buying. The first one I bought was on behalf of my son who lives in upstate New York. He figured that me going up and personally picking one out would give him better chances than someone closing their eyes and throwing it in a box to ship to him. I got to the store at 8:30, “opening time”, and found I’d been beaten there by about 20 guys who were in there going over every gun with all sorts of gauges. I scanned the racks looking for the only thing I knew: “If the gun has more blueing left on it than the others, it probably has been abused less.” I grabbed a gun with good looking metal and a terrible stock and brought it to the sales counter where George Ball laughed and called over all the “Garand experts” and asked what the hell they’d been looking for because “this guy who can’t even spell Garand right went right to the best gun on the racks, (matching serial numbers that virtually looked unfired), within 30 seconds of walking in the store!?!” It had a serial number in the 5.7 million range. This year I talked a friend of mine into signing up for the Small Arms Firing School – Pistol and SAFS-Rifle. We’d heard that 200 Garands would be made available at the store for opening day of the matches. While driving up my buddy said he wanted to stop by the store to buy a Garand during the lunch break of the SAFS pistol school. I explained to him that by noon there would be anything left, let alone a good rifle, and told him we had only one choice if he wanted that rifle: blow off the SAFS Pistol, (meaning throw away the $45 we paid for that), and go directly to the store at 7:45 so we’d be the first in line. He decided we should do that and we went straight to the store, only to find that about 50 people were already ahead of us in line waiting for it to open --- including some people that camped there overnight! We figured that by the time we got in the store we’d get the “bottom end”. Wouldn’t you know it, we walked in and a guy who was one of the first 5 or 10 in line walked up to me and he had two Garands in his hand. He asked me if I wanted one of them and then said that he got into the gun area and immediately found the best two guns on the racks and had spent the past hour proving that to himself --- and then couldn’t pick which one of the guns he wanted. So he told me he just picked one, for no reason at all, and asked if I wanted the other before he just put it back in the rack. Short of a couple of dings on the wood, this “Field Grade” gun looked almost UNFIRED! I took it from him and handed it to my friend who has greeted me with “Tom, I just want to thank you so much for getting me that great Garand! I could never have expected to get such a great rifle!”, ever since then. OK, so I just signed up for the GSM Master Instructor course in January at Camp Perry and decided I’d better get my own Garand to use in my classes. Because of that, I went to Camp Perry again this Thursday. For a change, I was the first customer in the store and my own personal “Garand Expert”, George Ball, greeted me as I came in. When I told him I was looking for a “Field Grade” Garand in great shape he got a frown on his face. After he asked me what I was going to do with it, and I told him I was essentially going to refinish it, put a new stock on it, etc, he smiled and took me over to a rack that had about 6 “CMP Special” Garands on it. I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT! THESE LOOKED LIKE BRAND NEW RIFLES THAT JUST CAME OFF OF THE SPRINGFIELD PRODUCTION LINE! Thanks again to everybody at CMP. I teach firearms classes as my full-time job and in all of them, especially since I live close to Camp Perry, I push involvement in the National Matches and the advantages of living close to one of the two CMP stores in the country. Hopefully, that has at least partially paid back what I owe you for all of the service you’ve done for me and the fun of my involvement in the SAFS Pistol and Rifle programs! Sincerely, Tom U . December 2, 2007I received my M1 Garand today and all I can say is thanks. This is a good looking rifle. The Muzzle is tight, the throat is tight, and the headspace is right on the money. Again all I can say is thanks I really like this rifle. Ralph H. December 1, 2007hello, please remove me
from your mailing list. your prices have gotten so high that the average guy
can't afford to buy a rifle from you any more! your prices are outrageous and
all you sell is junk. THANK YOU , JOHN
M. PS I have been trying to save my money for years and it seems
that every time I have the money your guns stink. you really need to rethink
your price structure something is wrong!
