Lynne and Melody, I am now very excited! The estore went to "shipped" today, for an Inland with a 3.0 million SN. That places it in 1944, if the Internet is to be believed. Thank you and everyone else at the CMP. I really appreciate your taking the time to fulfill my special request. I can't wait until Monday! Chris R.

Dear CMP Staff, I don't know how to thank all of you enough for all the wonderful service you have given me over the past 6 years or so. From Orest and Nina, Mark Johnson, all the girls who helped me with orders and paperwork, you are absolutely amazing. I don't know of any organization anywhere where I could have received such wonderful customer service. I was treated like I was the most important person in the world to you and I truly appreciate it. All of you have helped me achieve a lifelong dream of having a collection of M1 and 03 rifles. I am very happy with my collection which includes an example of all the WWII years and Korean War years for the M1 and includes at least one from each manufacturer. Some of the ones I have are so nice I don't want to shoot them. They are truly museum pieces. The 03s range from the oldest one made in 1907 to one of the last of production for the 03 and the 03A3. I really treasure my collection. I could not have done this outside the CMP. Whenever there was even the slightest problem, even one over a part that I was just not happy with, you took care of it and made sure that all the parts I received were to my complete satisfaction. What customer service. Wow is all I can say. I wish I could come personally and give all of you a hearty thank you in person but I can't so this is the best I can do. You have made an old man very happy and I am happy now with my collection and promise not to be a bother anymore. I just hope that I have enough health left to enjoy what I have and be able to go out and shoot some of them or just tinker with them. I wish all of you a very happy holiday and a very happy and prosperous year to come in 2008. Keep up the good work. Thank you again. Bob K. Eagle Pass, Texas

I wrote a letter along with an order that I had lost my C.O.A.'s for a three gun order that I had received previously and that I would gladly pay to have them replaced (I still think my wife chucked them). Along with my order came the three certificates at NO CHARGE. I would like to THANK VERY MUCH the CMP employee with the initials M.D. for the SUPER customer service. Have made several rifle purchases and have been happy with every one. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!! Craig B.

Hello All,   Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Among things that were on my Thanks like was the CMP.  I do not think I could have afforded the quality M1 on the open market that I purchased from CMP.  This past summer I used my Correct Grade HRA Garand in competetion for the first time, using only open sights.  I finished fourth, behind three scoped, modern rifles.  My M1 gave me a score of 284 with 11 x.  Pretty good for an old man and my first time out.  This rifle is just as it arrived from CMP, sans-cosmoline, of course.  Thank you for your service.  This is a wonderful organization.  Mark B .Sacramento, CA

Lynne, Thank you for responding to my email and taking time in our busy society. I sent a letter to you today along with my order form for a Winchester M1 Carbine. I know it is early, but things here can be held for weeks. I am not sure of the time it will take to get there. I appreciate you and the folks at CMP. What a great organization! I have 2 M1 Garands and this will be my second carbine. All the rifles I have received from CMP have been awesome. The service and quality are first class. I hope some day to drive to Anniston and shake your hand. I have 3 sons and one is currently serving with me here at Camp Liberty in Baghdad. He is our vehicle dispatch specialist and I am the recon officer. We appreciate you and the organization you work for. Military service runs deep in our family. Thanks again for taking time for me to "compete" with the mail back home. The planes don't always fly on time due to circumstances beyond all control. I have proudly served 23 years and I will do everything in my power to ensure that my boys all serve as well. We love to shoot and promote good marksmanship with friends and family. Thank you for promoting firearm safety and shooting and the American way. v/r, LTC Andrew R. Camp Liberty, Baghdad, Iraq

Dear CMP,  I recently received my M1 Garand, service grade.  After degreasing and a bit of finishing work on the wood it looks great.  Barrel is flawless with amazing bore shine.  Oh yeah, it shoots great!!!  This is the third one I've bought in two years and each has made me a happy man.  General Patton was right, this is a great weapon and I'm proud to hold in my hands these pieces of American military history.  My son is a Marine, now out of the service, but he really enjoys shooting the M1 as well.  Semper Fi on his behalf!  Mark T.  Pearland, TX

Dear CMP staff,  Earlier this month, while visiting your web site, I noticed that you were accepting orders for Inland, rack grade, M1 carbines. I had been kicking myself for not ordering a service grade Inland last spring during the initial carbine sale, so I quickly sent an order form for a rifle. Shortly after sending my order, I noticed the CMP web page had again changed and that you were again accepting orders for service grade rifles. I was bummed to have ordered a rack grade when now service grade rifles were available. Earlier this week my new rack grade rifle arrived, when I opened the box I could not have been happier, it's condition was such that I would have expected for a service grade rifle, I removed the M2 stock and dropped the metal into an original M1 stock I purchased at a gunshow, and it looks wonderful; I can't wait to see how it shoots. Thanks so much for working so hard to preserve these pieces of history, and in my opinion pieces of art work.  Sincerely,  Mark D .  J .

Dear CMP,  I received 2 Service Grade Garand’s yesterday and was extremely unhappy with the condition of both . I am not a perfectionist and was a military officer for well over 13 years and as a Major of Infantry and a Ranger, I feel I know what to expect from firearms that were in service.  These appear to have been in service in the 3rd world in some rathole since the 1950s.  Parkerization worn off ; Pitting ; Poor finish ;  Holes in the stock ; Deep…I mean deep gouges ; Stock rattles . It will take me more to repair these rifles than a new Garand costs…much more.  In general not what you would expect from a rifle that costs 595.  Within my club I have seen frequent examples of Service Grade Garands and while worn,  they were very acceptable,,,,a few dings and normal wear …these are not even close.  What can we do about this?    Kyle C .

Hello:  I recently received my service-grade Garand and I am VERY pleased with it.  It is a late model (1954) and is like new, except for a few dents on the wood.  I couldn’t be happier!  Thanks.  Jim D ., Fairfax, VA

I received my Service Grade M1 last week.  I was very impressed with the M1.  It exceeded my expectations in terms of the condition.  It required no clean up at all.  I was able to take it to the range the next day.  I was even more impressed by how well it shoots, with spreads under 3 inches at 100 yards with CMP ammo.  Thanks for all your efforts, I am very pleased.   Brad S .

It was a pleasure doing business with the CMP. I recently purchased an M1 Carbine through CMP rifle sales and I am satisfied with the whole experience. The rifle is in great shape, no rust, the bore looks pristine and it shoots great, 1" groups at 100 yards.  Thanks CMP,   Tom G .

I went to the CMP South store today and picked 20 up one of your 5 pack -15 round M1 carbine magazines. Got home and opened the box and was very happy. All the magazines were in very good condition. Thanks!! Johnny M.

Well, I just found out today that the M-1 Service Grade rifles are on back order and that I should plan on not calling to check on the status of the order I placed about a month ago for another 100 days (+/-).  This puts my delivery date (expected date) somewhere in the end of March 2008 time frame.  A possible five months in all. If you folks have not done so, and if it is possible, -- I think you need to somehow notify people who will be effected by the back order issue so that they are not surprised like I was.  Maybe there is something on the CMP site that indicates the back order situation -- but I have not seen it.  So, if there is - I apologize.  Never the less -- 100 days is a long time.  With that said, please understand that I appreciate your efforts and the great job you do.   Gary S.

I appreciate the way that CMP handles it's orders.  You make certain that the Customer is fully informed all along the way.  That makes your Customer Service on a par with ANY of the retail firms with which I have done business. This would include Nordstrom's or L.L. Bean.  Please do pass this along to your co-workers. Many of the customers in the firearms business can be a bit "unique" or "different" or "special." This being the case, customer satisfaction can be a difficult goal to achieve. Do understand that I am a most pleased customer so far. Thanks & Keep up the good work. Most Cordially , Dr. Bill

I received my SPECIAL M1 GARAND a week or so ago and it is beautiful.  I've now ordered the Greek ammo which just arrived so there is a date with the gun club in my near future.  I'm extremely happy with the process and how your staff communicated with me all along the way.  I couldn't believe how easily the process worked for a first timmer like myself.  Thanks again,  Lee B . I wanted to let you folks know how pleased I am with my recent rifle acquisition. After shooting in CMP competitions for the past two years, I finally decided to take the plunge and order a Garand from you, when the “CMP Special Grade” became available. I was one of the lucky 1000 to receive one of these fine rifles. When it arrived, my wife opened the box for me, over the phone,  as I was out of town on a business trip, and the first words out of her mouth were ” Wow! Okay, how much extra did you pay for the fancy wood? “  And does it shoot?  With a cookie cutter reload recipe, it shot 1-½ inch , 5-shot groups after zeroing at 100 yards. This with a load not specifically tailored for this particular rifle. I can’t wait to see what it will shoot when I get the load worked out!  I couldn’t be more pleased.  Thanks again,  Bob D . VT

Hi Folks, I visit the CMP site nearly everyday to keep abreast of what's happening; I sure don't want to miss anything. I enjoy reading the feedback you folks get, some of it is just admonishingly ridiculous with a flavor of being humorous. I find it down right shameful that you all failed to stop what you were doing to go through the thousands of Garand rifles housed in hundreds of crates to locate the highest numbered rifle available. Just what were you thinking? (Tongue in cheek, here) For the amount of work on your menu, and your great effort to provide good service; I salute you. By the way, maybe you should high-light the "pick of the draw" in the description statement. Oh, while I'm thinking about it, my last purchased carbine had a spot of rust on the rear of the receiver. <smiling>   Dave USMC WA

Dear Sirs, I want to thank you for the M1 Garand I received from the CMP rifle sales this October. My sons and I fired the Service Grade Garand at the range this weekend and the rifle functioned flawlessly. Once again, THANKS CMP.   Rick C . Sr.

November 9, 2007

Dear CMP:  Received my Service Grade Garand in record time (less than two weeks).  Fedex left door hanger on November 7.  Got my rifle the next day.  Was very pleased with the quality.  I'm having it checked out but cannot wait to test fire it. Overall it did not diappoint.  Will clean up nicely for a nice piece.  Thanks again.  George C . Aberdeen, Mississippi

CMP, I would like to convey my many thanks these past few months, over the last four months, I have purchased two field grade M-1's and one Service Grade M-1, which I just opened and I have to tell you that it was in prestine condition.  It was well worth the wait!  I also purchased the Greek 30-06 and must say that that ammo shoots very well with no problems.  Your staff are excellent, polite, and very professional. You do this service with a strong sense of pride! My many thanks,  Carlos V.

Thank you so much for the really nice Garand AND the exceptionally friendly folks I dealt with in purchasing this rifle.  The CMP is a real treasure.  Phil

Thank you so much for your prompt service. I just met the FedEx truck in my drive as I was getting home and got my carbine ammunition as I stepped out of my car.  I thanked the driver for being so quick and he notified me that he was here YESTERDAY, and put a note on our door.  Of course, being from the rural Midwest , we only use our front door for company, and I never saw the note. I would have had my purchase even quicker.    Thanks again for your prompt service!  Terry M .

Hi,  I just received my field grade M1 and have two comments:  It was incorrectly sent to my home address even though my order form states my work address. (No one is home during the day, so I specify my work address.)   .  2) On my order form, I requested the highest serial number available, but got a six-digit gun. (It is difficult to believe that the newest gun available yesterday was a 1942.)  I will keep the gun, but thought you should know about these issues.  Thank you,  Fred H .

Dear Sir/Madame , I just received my Special M1 Rifle. I know that you have heard it many times before but I am  tickled pink about my rifle. I told one of the very pleasant women working there to send me a rifle in stock instead of the $895 CMP Special. She said  " Sir I believe that if you wait for the CMP Special you will not be disappointed. "  Man let me tell you She was very, very, very right. The Rifle I received was perfect. Next to my Dog ,Tin Can, it is one of my most prized possessions. It is very  seldom that a Government sponsored agency will be so responsive. Again I thank you . Will S .

November 5, 2007

I just received my second box of Greek ammo. This is the best deal for ammo I have ever had. It shoots real good out of my Garand. This is the Garand I built from the receiver I purchased from you last year. My two sons and I like this Garand so much I had to order one of your service grade garlands. I just want to thank all of you at CMP. Ralph H.

Received my M1 Garand Special this week and had to say how incredible it looks, excellent work!  It looks like a brand new rifle.    Also received the Kimber 82 target rifle and it is just as described on your web site, it is an unissued brand new rifle.   Looking forward to many fun hours at the range with both rifles.  Thank you for the fantastic service.    Alan S.    Albuquerque, NM
