16-17 September 2010 Anniston, AL
The CMP will conduct a series of JMIC Master
Instructor Training Workshops in 2010 to train new JMIC Master
Instructors and recertify current active JMIC Master Instructors who
were originally trained in 2005 and whose certificates expire in
2010. Recent experience in conducting rifle marksmanship training
and organizing a rifle team at a JROTC Unit or Junior Rifle Club is
a prerequisite for attending a JMIC Master Instructor Course.
Current Master Instructors must have taught at least one JMIC Course
in the past five years to be eligible for recertification.

Instructor Course

and complete the online registration page. Please
indicate the class you wish to attend. Before you register, review the
information in this bulletin about course dates and

and the qualifications required to become a JMIC Master Instructor.
JMIC JROTC Marksmanship
Instructor Course The
JROTC Marksmanship Instructor Course, better known as JMIC, is an eight-hour
course that must be completed by Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force JROTC
instructors before they can teach air rifle marksmanship to JROTC cadets. The
course covers how to organize a JROTC marksmanship program, how to safely and
properly conduct air rifle live firing and how to teach basic marksmanship
skills that are the foundation for three-position air
rifle qualification and competition. Instructors who complete the JMIC Course
are issued course notebooks and CDs with classroom presentations they can use
when they train cadets in gun safety and basic marksmanship. Certificates are
issued for course completion and are valid for five years. A large number of
current certificates will expire in 2010 and these instructors must take a new
JMIC Course to be recertified. Significant improvements and changes have been
made in the JMIC Course since its inception in 2005 so it is essential that all
certified instructors be retrained every five years. Only JMIC Master
Instructors who are trained by the CMP in a two-day JMIC Master Instructor
Training Course may teach JMIC Courses. There are currently 256 certified JMIC
Master Instructors, although many of these certifications will expire in 2010.
Master Instructors teach courses for as few as one and as many as 20 or 30 JROTC
instructors. Since the JMIC program began in 2005, JMIC Master
Instructors have trained and certified 2,239 Army, 1,335 Navy, 291 Marine
Corps and 131 Air Force JROTC instructors to teach air rifle marksmanship in
their schools.
JMIC Master Instructor Training
CourseJMIC Master Instructor
Training Courses are two-day courses to train and certify qualified JROTC and
other civilian instructors to teach the eight-hour JMIC Course.
Master Instructor Courses provide a detailed and thorough examination of
all aspects of the JMIC course. In addition, they serve as a venue for
evaluating the JMIC Course and the overall JROTC rifle
marksmanship program and for making recommendations for improvement. To be
eligible for certification as a JMIC Master Instructor, you must have
actual experience in conducting JROTC or junior club rifle marksmanship
instruction. JMIC Master Instructors should also have actual experience in
organizing and training a JROTC unit rifle team or
junior club rifle team for participation in three-position air rifle
competition. To be eligible for recertification, previously certified Master
Instructors must have taught at least one eight-hour
JMIC Course during the last five years. JROTC instructors and junior club
leaders who do not meet the experience requirements for
Master Instructor certification may attend one of these courses and may
be certified as a JMIC instructor.
