CMP JUNIOR PRECISION AIR RIFLE PURCHASE PROGRAM

The Civilian Marksmanship Program has contracted with Beeman Precision Airguns (Huntington Beach, CA) to provide Feinwerkbau Model P70 Junior Air Rifles to junior teams and clubs, at special subsidized prices and have the option of paying for those rifles over a two-year period.. These precision air rifles are now available to youth shooting programs at a cost of $725 each (to include shipping costs) – far below their retail value!

More than four thousand junior clubs and school shooting programs in the U.S. are equipped with moderately priced sporter air rifles – a rifle weighing about six pounds designed for introductory training and competition. These rifles are very popular with schools and clubs with limited equipment budgets. Many of these organizations want to obtain precision air rifles for their more advanced shooters.  However, they have been unable to afford them because the retail price for quality precision air rifles often exceeds $1,200.

The CMP, in cooperation with Beeman and Feinwerkbau, developed this purchase program so that clubs and schools may provide high quality transition air rifles to deserving young shooting athletes. The P70 Junior has the same action, barrel, trigger and sights as well as the accuracy of the regular P70. It is, however, slightly smaller in both weight and size.

This rifle is ideal for use as a club loaner gun for a year or two until an athlete develops to full size and strength – at which time he or she will need to obtain a full size precision air rifle.  It is ideal for younger and smaller shooters who must struggle to shoot with a full-sized air rifle.

1.     WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

To qualify for this special purchase program, an organization must have an ongoing junior shooting program.  In addition, an organization must be one of the following:

  • A CMP affiliated junior club, team or camp

  • Army, Navy or Marine Corps JROTC Unit

  • 4-H Shooting Sports Club

NOTE: An organization desiring to affiliate with the CMP may request an affiliation packet from:

CMP Affiliate Relations Department

P.O. Box 576

Port Clinton, OH 43452

clubs@odcmp.com

Fax: (419) 635-2573

2.  RESTRICTIONS

Each organization is limited to the purchase of four (4) air rifles, but may request a waiver from the CMP to purchase more than four.  In addition, the organization must agree to:

  • Reserve the rifles for use by junior shooters
  • Maintain ownership of the rifles for one (1) year

3.   DESCRIPTION

The P70 Junior has an ambidextrous stock with a full rail for the use of a sling. Not only can the cheek piece and stock be adjusted up and down, but also they can be moved in or out, or canted as much as 15 degrees to the side.

Feinwerkbau Model P70 Junior Air Rifle

The P70 Junior comes equipped with Feinwerkbau factory sights, one air cylinder and an adapter to use in refilling the cylinder from a scuba tank to 3,000 P.S.I. A dial at the end of the cylinder indicates air pressure in the cylinder.

An internal regulator allows the cylinder to be recharged while leaving the point of impact unchanged.

4.   OPERATING STEPS

The P70 Junior is one of the easiest air rifles on the market to operate. Push the cocking slide forward with the thumb from either side; this charges the rifle, opens the loading port and blocks the line of sight. The shooter then loads the pellet directly into the bore, closes the loading gate, aims and fires.
