New Ohio Adjutant General. Ohio Governor Robert Taft recently appointed Brigadier General Greg Wayt as the new Ohio Adjutant General and head of the Ohio National Guard. General Wayt succeeds Major General John Smith who retired on June 30. General Smith was a strong supporter of the National Matches, Camp Perry and the CMP. 1000 Yard Firing Line at Camp Perry Raised. Construction was recently completed on an Ohio National Guard project to raise the entire length of the Viale Range 1000 yard firing line at Camp Perry. The new raised firing line has been seeded and is expected to make it possible for all of the 1000 yard firing points at Camp Perry to again be used during the NRA Long Range Championship. Daisy and Junior Olympic Air Rifle Championships. The Daisy National Junior Air Rifle Championship has already been completed at Bowling Green, Kentucky and the National Junior Olympic Three-Position Air Rifle Championship is now taking place at the same location. Anyone interested in these competitions can check current results by clicking on the headers for these matches on the CMP Home Page at http://www.odcmp.com. National Matches Update. Entries in the 2004 National Matches continue to come in at a fast pace. It is not too late to enter the National Trophy Pistol Matches where entries are at 2003 levels with entry positions still available. The same applies for the National Rimfire Sporter Match on July 24. Entries in the highpower rifle matches are running well ahead of last year’s entries. The new M16 EIC Match has been full for two weeks. The Springfield Match is expected to fill this week. The Garand, Presidents and National Trophy Individual Matches also look like they could fill before the matches begin. This means shooters who want to compete in these matches need to make their entries as soon as possible. You can enter any of the National Matches events on-line at http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/matchUpcomingSearch.cgi, select the event that you want to enter and then follow instructions to register. Distinguished Badge Records. The CMP has now compiled a complete list of all Distinguished Badge winners in all three Distinguished categories, service rifle, service pistol and international. Updated lists are posted on the CMP Competitor Tracker home page at http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/report_distinguished.cgi. The CMP invites all Distinguished badge holders to check these listings to make sure they are correct. The Distinguished listing records the year the badge was earned, any military affiliation or rank that applied at the time the badge was earned and the badge number. Distinguished shooters who wish to submit updated information are urged to contact the CMP at competitions@odcmp.com. |
