Capt. Samual Woodfill was called the greatest hero of World War I By Gen. Pershing, feels once more the familiar grip of an old friend as he levels a service rifle at the National Rifle and Pistol Matches at Camp Perry Ohio. Capt. Woodfill was a member of the Kentucky Civilian Shooting Team.

Sharpshooter Infantryman, Sgt. Hamsford H. Wagner who won the historic Wimbledon Cup in last years National Rifle and Pistol Matches, started off the first days firing by winning the Trophy Match over a field of 1,669 other military and civilian shooters.
